YASH'S POV
I nodded numbly, trying to hold on to the hope in Varun's voice. But then, we heard the female officer whisper something to her superior. He nodded and motioned for us to follow him to the other side of the terrace.
My heart was in my throat as we reached the edge of the tank. The officers were pulling someone out. My heart pounded, and my breath caught in my throat.
As they carefully lifted the person out of the tank, my heart raced, hoping against hope that it wasn't her. But when I rushed forward, my worst fear was confirmed—it was Janhvi. The blood drained from my face. I could barely see through the tears that filled my eyes.
This can't be real. This can't be my sunshine. This can't be my Janhvi.
She was barely recognizable. Her once vibrant eyes were bruised and swollen, discolored from the beatings she had endured. Her lips were split, with dried blood crusted around the cuts. Her hands and arms bore deep bruises and welts, stark evidence of the relentless torture she had suffered. One look at her, and I felt my world shatter—this was my Janhvi, my sunshine, broken and hurt in ways I couldn't have imagined.
I stood there, frozen in shock, unable to process the sight before me. The officer beside me examined the scene and spoke grimly, "It looks like they left her in this tank and turned on the water just now. Judging by the water level, they must have fled not long before we arrived."
The DGP, picking up on the urgency, quickly issued orders. "That means they should still be nearby. Send out the search teams. We need to find them, now!"
I heard Abhi jiju urgently calling for an ambulance, while Varun and Kabir Bhai knelt beside Janhvi, trying to offer comfort in any way they could. But I stood there like a rock, unable to move, unable to think. Akash and Vikas shook me, their voices trying to reach through the fog in my mind, but I could barely focus on their words. My entire world had narrowed down to Janhvi.
When the ambulance arrived, I finally moved, as if on autopilot. I knelt beside her as they gently placed her on the stretcher, my hand trembling as I reached out to hold hers. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I forced them back. There was no time for that now—Janhvi needed me to be strong.
As they carried her to the waiting ambulance, I walked alongside her, never letting go of her hand. "Sunshine," I whispered, though I knew she couldn't hear me. "I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you. Please, stay with me." But Jiju didn't allow me to ride in the ambulance, insisting that Varun and Kabir Bhai go instead, I felt a surge of helplessness. I could only watch as the doors closed behind them.
The drive to the hospital was a blur of fear and desperation. Abhi jiju and the others were making calls, coordinating with the police, but my mind was only on the ambulance carrying Janhvi. She was all that mattered. I followed closely behind, my heart aching with every second that passed, knowing that she was fighting for her life and that I couldn't be there to hold her hand.
As we rushed into the hospital, the familiar environment of our own facility brought a small sense of comfort. This was our hospital, and I knew Janhvi would be taken care of here. Abhi jiju handled everything as soon as we arrived, coordinating with the staff who were already prepared and waiting. They quickly took Janhvi into the ICU, and I was left standing outside, staring at the door that now separated me from her.Varun and Kabir bhai stood near the ICU entrance, their expressions grim. Abhi jiju was beside them, his face a mixture of determination and worry. Akash and Vicky were by my side, but I barely registered their presence. My eyes were glued to the ICU door, my mind racing with questions. What had happened to her? How did this all go so horribly wrong? Why did she go out alone? The unanswered questions were driving me to the brink of madness.
