Later that day, a council of cabin leaders was held to discuss the pair of prophecies given out at the eventful game of Capture the Flag. Among the invited were (Y/N) and Zoe, as they were each at the center of one of them. The council was held in the rec room of the Big House around the ping-pong table. Mr. D waved his hands and all manner of snacks and beverages appeared. Cheez Whiz, crackers, and red wine. A single look from Chiron reminded the wine god of his restriction, as he let out another sigh and changed all the wine into Diet Coke.
No one reached for that either.
Mr. D and Chiron (in his wheelchair) sat at one end of the table. At the other were Zoe. Bianca (who had become something of a personal assistant to Zoe, it seemed), and (Y/N). Thalia, Percy, and Grover were sitting on the right, while the other head councilors who were present - those being Beckendorf, the Stoll Brothers, and Silena Beauregard on the left. Ares was supposed to have a representative, but each of them had some kind of injury that precluded them from attending.
Zoe started the meeting on a positive note. "This is pointless."
"Cheez Whiz!" Grover gasped. He began scooping up crackers and ping-pong balls and covering them with the topping.
"There is no time for talk," Zoe continued. "Our goddess needs us. The Hunters must leave immediately."
"And go where?" (Y/N) asked.
"West!" Bianca said. Already the changes in her appearance were noticeable. Her dark hair was braided like Zoe's now. Her skin was glowing faintly, like the other Hunters, as if she'd been taking showers in liquid moonlight. "You heard the prophecy, Six shall go west to the goddess in chains. We can grab five hunters and go."
"Yes," Zoe agreed. "Artemis is being held hostage! We must find her and free her."
"West is hardly an exact direction," (Y/N) said. "What if in your movements West, you walk right past her, but just a touch too far north or south? What then?"
"Not to mention, you're missing something, as usual," Thalia said. "Campers and Hunters with Greed prevail. We're supposed to do this together, and this one's involved guaranteed."
"No!" Zoe shouted. "The Hunters do not need thy help."
"Your," Thalia grumbled. "Nobody has used thy in, like, three hundred years, Zoe. Get with the times."
Zoe hesitated, like she was trying to form the word correctly. "Yerrr. We do not need yerrr help."Thalia rolled her eyes. "Forget it."
"I fear the prophecy says you do need our help," Chiron said. "Campers and Hunters must cooperate, and one of those campers must be (Y/N)."
"Or do they?" Mr. D mused, swirling his Diet Coke under his nose like wine. "Two shall be lost. A deal will be forced. That sounds rather nasty, doesn't it? What if you fail because you try to cooperate?"
"Sir," (Y/N) began, "whose fucking side are you on? Or is it a substance, rather than a side?"
"Sorry, sorry," Mr. D said. "Just trying to be helpful."
"We're supposed to work together," Thalia said stubbornly. "I don't like it either, Zoe, but you know prophecies. You want to fight against one?"
Zoe grimaced. It seemed Thalia had scored a point.
"We must not delay," Chiron warned. "Today is Sunday. The very Friday, December Twenty-First, is the winter solstice."
"Oh, joy," Dionysus muttered. "Another dull annual meeting."
