"Chiron, we lost Annabeth," (Y/N) informed the centaur. "Mr. D will probably say it was a middling success, but I would consider it a complete failure."
'Why is that?" Chiron replied.
"We lost Annabeth, as I said, and we only succeeded in getting one of the two that Grover found to come to camp. The other joined the Gramps-damned Hunters, who should be here any minute now."
"Hmm," Chiron pondered, putting a hand to his beard. "Most troubling. I will wait for Percy and Thalia to give their reports, and decide on further action from there."
"Chiron, if you send out a mission, I'm on the first bus," (Y/N) said. "You can promise me that, right?"
"I can promise no such thing, (Y/N). However, if I do send out a search party, you will be among the first of my considerations."
(Y/N) let out a deep breath through his nose, making no effort to obscure his annoyance. He stood with his arms crossed on the porch of the Big House and waited for others to show up. And soon they did, as Percy and Thalia approached with Nico in tow. They made their way up to where Chiron was and started giving their report, though of course Mr. D had to give his two cents.
"Oh, dear," he said in a bored voice. "Not another one lost."
"What do you mean?" Thalia asked. "Who else is lost?"
Just then, Grover trotted into the room, grinning like crazy. He had a black eye and red lines on his face that looked like a slap mark. "The Hunters are all moved in!"
Chiron frowned. "Yes, (Y/N) was just telling me about their arrival. It seems we have much to talk about." He glanced at Nico. "Grover, perhaps you should take our young friend to the den and show him the orientation film."
"But... Oh, right. Yes, sir."
"Orientation film?" Nico asked. "Is it G or PG? 'Cause Bianca is kinda strict-"
"It's PG-13," Grover said.
"Cool!" Nico happily followed the satyr out of the room.
"Now," Chiron said to Thalia and Percy, "perhaps you two should sit down and tell us the rest of the story that (Y/N) missed."

When they were done, Chiron turned to Mr. D. "We should launch a search for Annabeth immediately.
"I'll go," Thalia, Percy, and (Y/N) said at the same time.
Mr. D chuckled. "Certainly not!"
Every single half-blood in the room started complaining at the same time, but Mr. D held up his hand. He had a purplish, angry fire in his eyes that usually meant something bad and godly was going to happen if they didn't shut up.
"From what has been said," Mr. D said, "we have broken even on this escapade. We have, ah, regrettably lost Annie Bell-"
"Annabeth," Percy snapped. She'd been at camp since she was seven, and still Mr. D pretended not to know her name.
"Yes, yes," he said. "And you procured a small, annoying boy to replace her. So I see no point risking further half-bloods on a ridiculous rescue. The possibility is very great that this Annie girl is dead."
(Y/N) wanted to strangle Mr. D, and Percy was right there with him. Zeus had sent the wine god to act as Camp Director for a century as a punishment, and Mr. D had passed that feeling on to them.
"Annabeth may be alive," Chiron said, but it was obvious he was having problems staying upbeat. He'd practically raised Annabeth all those years she was a year-round camper, before she'd given loving with her dad and stepmom a second try. "She's very bright. If... if our enemies have her, she will try to play for time. She may even pretend to cooperate."
