Lanyue Pavilion was quite grand. Although it was only a pavilion, it could be considered a small palace. Apart from its smaller size compared to actual palaces, it was otherwise comparable to the residences of concubines.

Bai Jingxian was very pleased to learn that Wang Momo had prepared the Western Palace. As soon as she lay down, she was visited by Wang Momo.

"Momo, you've worked hard. If it weren't for you, I don't know when I'd be able to leave that place," Bai Jingxian said, clutching the blankets tightly and trembling slightly as if recalling something terrifying.

"Rest assured, my lady. Everything is under the Emperor's protection," Momo Wang replied. She was known for her discretion and loyalty, serving He Liangdi with the same dedication she had shown the Emperor.

Of course, her loyalty was based on not harming the Emperor.

After Bai Jingxian settled into Lanyue Pavilion, it became calm.

However, as she lay in bed, her heart was far from calm. Was she scared?

To be honest, she was a little afraid. But more than that, she was anxious about not having capable people at her disposal.

Chun Feng and Chun Yu were indeed good, but they had only been with her for a short time and were palace servants. It was very inconvenient for her to use them. If possible, she wanted to cultivate some trusted individuals outside the palace.

But training people outside the palace was not as simple as a few words.

At this moment, she wished she had a magical ability, as the jade bottle was no longer sufficient for her needs.

As she pondered, she soon fell asleep.

When Chun Feng and Chun Yu came in, they found their mistress already asleep and quietly left the sleeping chamber.

Outside, Wang Momo happened to arrive with a report and saw the two of them exiting.

"Is Liangdi asleep?" Momo Wang asked, noticing their gentle footsteps and frowning slightly.

The two nodded. "Yes, Momo. Is there something you need to tell the mistress?"

Wang Momo did not intend to hide anything from them. "There is something, but it's not urgent. We'll wait until the mistress wakes up," she said. The details would wait until Bai Jingxian was awake.

"Momo, are you familiar with Lanyue Pavilion? Could you show Chun Yu and me around a bit?" The two trusted their mistress but were not very familiar with Wang Momo.

Although curious about what Wang Momo said, they did not press further.

"Not very familiar," Wang Momo said with a gentle smile. "But I know a little. Let me show you around."

In her dream, Bai Jingxian found herself in the world she had once lived in. She saw her parents cursing her after her death, and her brother smashing her urn. Their harsh words echoed in her ears as she stood not far from them, watching and listening.

Tears streamed down her face without her realizing.

"She's really heartless, preferring to give her possessions to outsiders rather than leaving anything for us. Hmph, we should have let her body be eaten by dogs," said her biological mother.

A man in his fifties, with a sullen face, said, "Hmph, we don't agree. This matter isn't over."

Her brother added, "Dad, Mom, it's useless. I've asked around, and this is her will. No one can change it." He was already in poor health and had gained nothing, so he was naturally dissatisfied.

"Is that it? No, I won't accept this," The mother yelled. "I raised her for so many years. Even if she's dead, her belongings are mine. I won't believe there's no place to seek justice."

The three of them discussed for a while and then left, not even glancing at the scattered ashes on the ground.

Bai Jingxian watched their departing figures and laughed. "You want to take my things to support that ingrate? You'll never get it in this lifetime."

Uncertain whether it was a nightmare or not, Bai Jingxian suddenly spiked a high fever in her sleep, scaring Chun Feng and the others.

An imperial physician was called, and the Emperor sent Defu to check on her, as did the Empress.

In a semi-conscious state, Bai Jingxian felt as if her head would explode. When she opened her eyes, the room was dimly lit.

It took her a while to recognize her surroundings as she stared at the intricately carved bed canopy.

"Hadn't I already let go?" she bitterly smiled.

Every child hopes for their parent's love, but whether it's managing or the original self, they are all pitiful people who lack love. Even if there was a bit of warmth, it was tainted by calculation.

"Don't worry. I'll avenge you," she said, reaching out with her delicate hand to her chest.

Perhaps due to her movements, Chun Feng came over to check on her and found her awake. The previously worried expression on her face softened.

The physician diagnosed the fever as due to excessive shock and mental distress. The fever would subside once she woke up. If it persisted, it could be serious...

The physician's words were not very reassuring, but from what he said, if she didn't wake up, it might not end well.

Seeing her awake, Chun Feng was naturally relieved.

"My lady, you're finally awake," Chun Feng said, her voice choked with emotion.

"What happened to me?" Bai Jingxian felt weak and sore all over, with a splitting headache.

Everything was uncomfortable.

"You have a fever. Drink some water first. I'll call the physician right away."

Chun Feng's commotion alerted Chun Yu outside. Hearing Chun Feng say she would call the physician, Chun Yu hurriedly went to find Xiao Li to fetch the physician.

While waiting for the physician, Bai Jingxian realized she had a fever and wondered why waking up after a nap would make her feel so unwell. It turned out she had a fever.

The original body was indeed in poor condition.

Soon, Lanyue Pavilion was brightly lit. After the physician examined her and prescribed medicine, he said she would recover with a few days of careful care.

"It's so late. I'm sorry to trouble the physician. Momo, please see the physician out for me," Bai Jingxian weakly signaled to Wang Momo.

Her illness lasted for several days.

Meanwhile, the Emperor also made progress in his investigation.

Looking at the documents sent by the Criminal Department, the Emperor remained silent.

It was Defu who came in to report that the Empress wished to see him before he spoke. "Let the Empress in."

When the Empress entered, she saw the Emperor's grim expression and Huang Daren present, realizing that the matter of Qingliang Palace had come to a conclusion.

"Why has the Empress come here?" The Emperor wondered, as the Empress rarely visited the Zhengzheng Hall.

The Empress did not respond immediately but glanced at the people in the hall.

The Emperor waved his hand. "Alright, you all wait outside the hall." The matter was not yet concluded, and Huang Zhongquan could not leave.

"Yes."

Defu and Huang Zhongquan exited together.

"Yu-er, did you come to see me for something?"

The Empress sighed. "Regarding the poisoning incident with He Liangdi, I've found some information. I'm uncertain and wanted to consult with Your Majesty." The Empress smiled gently and then presented the evidence she had found.

Emperor Rui looked at the Empress and took the evidence she offered. After reviewing it, he slammed the dragon desk angrily. "Audacious, audacious!"
