Chapter 8

Dorothy's POV

"Why would someone send you a threatening message?!!" Maybe I shouldn't have yelled that. Now anyone who was within this mile would have known we had been threatened. Good job self.

We were walking home from school since it seemed like the more healthy option than taking a car.

"I don't know. Likely someone doesn't want us to investigate Dad's case." Sophie said.

"But who?" I retorted. Who would want us to stop investing so badly that they sent us a threat message?

"The person who abducted him might be our culprit. They don't want the truth to be found out", Sophie did have a point. They didn't want the world to find out about their criminal deeds. We need to find the perpetrator. As soon as possible.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"We find out who sent me the threat message and investigate Leo Tira, " She responded.

"We can check the phone book, " I suggested.

"That thing hasn't been updated since 2012 everything's digital now. The government probably has all the information they need so they didn't bother to make a new one, " Sophie stated.

I huffed. We continued to walk home. We continued to think about the threat message. Sophie's phone buzzed. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at it. Her facial expression changed and she handed it over to me.

"Who the frick is doing this?" I screamed.

"Do I look like I know?" Sophie remarked clearly panicked.

"If this is a prank stop now. It isn't funny anymore, " I told her.

"Why would I joke with something so serious?" Sophie shouted back.

I took a deep breath to calm down. Who was doing this?

We continued to walk and conversed once in a while.

A tall hazelnut-hair man with light green eyes approached us.

"Why did you two talk to Iris?" His voice sounded monotone.

"Excuse me, who are you?" I asked.

"Leonardo Tira, you're the Gordon Twins right? You asked Iris questions about your Dad right?"Leo interrogated us.

"How do you know? "I fired back.

"She told me. I'd appreciate it if you don't talk to us. Your Dad's death also affected us deeply okay not only you. Please stay away from us", He shoved us aside and walked away.

"Why do they both not want to talk to us?" Sophie asked.

I slumped down on Sophie's bed. "There's something they are hiding from us that might be the piece we need to complete the puzzle," Sophie continued.

"I have an idea but you'll say ' it's illegal', 'we can go to juvie', stuff like that...." I began to trail off.

" Any idea and or plan that can get us information is relevant at this point, " Sophie replied.

"We don't know where Leo lives but we do know where Iris lives... so we may need to break an entry. Her house has no security cameras so it will be easy to get in and not get caught, " I explained my idea to her.
