Sophie's POV

I knocked on Mr Brian's door furiously. I know Dorothy said I should wait but I can't wait any longer. I've had enough. I turned on the spare recorder and placed it in my back pocket alongside my phone.

Mr Brian finally opened up, "Sophie, come in".

I stepped into the house, trying to avoid eye contact and I slumped down in their living room.

Theo stared at me as I progressed to the armchair, shocked to see me here after he saw me earlier today.

"Are your mom and brother home?" I asked trying to cover up the rage about to spew from within.

"No, just me and my dad," Theo replied realizing I wasn't in a good mood.

"Can I offer you any drink, Sophie water, coke, anything at all we'll give it to you?" Mr Brian questioned.

I thought for a moment I wasn't even thirsty but I had to accept his offer it would seem rude.

"Coffee," I said.

When Theo finally brought it back, I took a quick sip and before I was about to speak Mr Brian cut me off.

"Oh finish your drink," Mr Brian said.

"I'm good," I retorted.

"In multiple cultures, it's rude to not finish your drink before speaking," Mr Brian rebuked me.

I reluctantly finished up the coffee as fast as I could and spoke.

"You have my Dad, don't you? " I attacked him.

"Well done, Sophie. Took you long enough to figure out. I thought it would take weeks but not months," A smirk slowly appeared on his face.

Theo was barely moved by his father's statement.

"Wait you knew your father had him and all this time you never told me," My anger was uncaged.

"Yes Sophie, Theo did know. That's why he is dating you to minimize suspicion but clearly, that backfired," Mr Brian commented.

My world instantly shattered into millions of tiny bits of shards.

"I confided in you. I told you my problems. You know where my father is and you didn't tell me?!" I yelled.

Theo just nodded.

Oh my gosh.

"Why?" I felt my voice crack.

"You see Sophie your Dad was everything every employer wants smart, reliable, kind, honest and consistent. He made all of my company's best inventions and I don't know what this company would be without him. He was always ready to work overtime to let the company to strive, grow, and prosper. Until he gave birth to you and your sister he started asking for more time off to spend time with you and your family. It started to take a massive toll on the company because the other employees are so useless and..." Mr Brian trailed off.

" So you kidnapped him and brutally murdered him," My voice trembled with anger.

" Oh come on Sophie I am not that much of a monster. I didn't kill him. I just kidnapped him on March 5th, 2019 bribed Tyson Howards to delay the investigation. I drove him to a hidden location and now he's at a hidden location making new ideas day and night. How do you think my company is still booming today? Do you think I can come up with these ideas? Do you think I make them myself? You're too funny Sophie," Mr Brian began to cackle.

"It's not funny. That's messed up. Where is he? "I demanded my anger boiling from within.

"Why would I tell you that Sophie so you continue meddling and go find him? Don't worry I give him three square meals a day with water, shelter to just make him feel comfortable. Do you know what keeps him going? I told him one day I will let him return to you or is it because I told him that if he doesn't work he wouldn't see you again? Both. I'm sure of it"
