Dorothy's POV

I entered Mom's hospital room and noticed a cast wrapped around her left arm and Doctor Rickson standing next to her hospital bed.

"Good morning," I called out to both of them.

Dr Rick just replied with a morning.

"Good morning Hon, How are you? Where's your sister?" My mom asked.

"Great, she went to pick up our test results she said she'd pass by soon,"  I explained to Mom as I sat down next to her.

This morning she was sounding like her usual self. The Mom I knew.

"She shouldn't bother passing by because I'm being released from the hospital today," Mom said trying to hide the pure bliss in her voice, "It's such a shame, that I have to reschedule the charity event though".

"Right now I think we should prioritize your health first before work," I was so happy she was doing better than previously.

"Could you please go home and clean up my room?" My mom asked me.

"Oh sure but who will help you pack up here?" I was willing to do anything for Mom right now.

"I'll call my assistant Shelly to help me pack up and drive me home. By the way, the insurance company said my car is damaged beyond repair so a new car will arrive tomorrow," She told me.

***

I kicked open the front door carrying a crushing load of food that contained foods that were supposed to speed up Mom's recovery.

"Soph," I called out. No reply.

Maybe she's not back yet but I saw her car before I came in.

"Sophie," I yelled one more time but still no response.

"Sophie, this isn't funny," I shouted this time moving closer to the staircase.

I went upstairs and went to her bedroom door and pounded on it.

Silence. Deafening silence.

The silence spread throughout the house.

I knocked on the door again but Sophie didn't respond.

The reality dawned on me.

What if the first threats had been fulfilled?

I barged into Sophie's room and saw her pale, lying unconscious on the floor.

I ran next to her. Her phone facing flat on the floor. I tapped her.

"This isn't funny Sophie, it's not funny," I tried to shake her but she didn't wake up.

I picked up her wrist to feel her pulse but it was very slow.

"Sophie wake up," I was on the verge of crying.

What if someone tried to kill her?

"Please wake up," I begged her.

I looked around her room it was messy and disorganized. Sophie was a neat freak. There's no way she would ever leave her room like this.

"Wake up," I was desperate. Desperate for her to wake Up. What would happen to Mom if she saw Sophie like this?

"Sophie, Sophie please," She just stayed there. Lying there on the floor.

Sophie's POV

I felt the cold floor beneath me.

My eyes slowly fluttered open and I saw Dorothy's face.
