Sophie's POV
When I spent the whole of yesterday at the hospital, I didn't see Nichole once.
At least when I was conscious. My vision was still a little blurry and my head was still throbbing.
Theo betrayed me. It hurts.
He knew where my Dad was but he still didn't tell me.
He stood there and helped his father to try and suffocate me.
I'm sure they were just waiting for the
right opportunity to do it.
Theo and Mr Brian were on trial now and they could face 17 years in prison.
The doctor said I shouldn't stress myself but I just can't help but think.
I just wanted Dad back.
That's all I ever wanted.
I heard a knock on my door and Nichole peeked in. "Can I come in?"
I nodded. Since the near-death incident, I mostly reply with nods and short sentences. Very unlike me.
"I came to the hospital yesterday but you were still unconscious," Nichole said.
"Dorothy told me," I answered.
"Does it hurt ?" Nichole asked.
"Yes but not as much as it did before," I answered.
"Why would Theo do that? Why?" Nichole sat next to me on my bed.
"I don't think he cared about me deep down in his heart," That's the conclusion I've drawn for myself now.
Mr Brian still won't tell the police where my Dad is. He keeps refusing to reveal the location.
I teared up a little but wiped my tears away quickly when Nichole wasn't looking.
"The Xz was a red flag that I overlooked," I told her.
"We all ignore red flags sometimes. I am just happy that you're alive. I don't know what I would do without you," She pulled me into a side hug.
"I should be thanking you. If you hadn't put that tracker on me I would have not been here now. Thank you," I was grateful. I meant it.
I teared up again.
"So who sent you the threats," Nichole questioned me.
"I don't know," I responded.
'Wow, ' Nichole mouthed.
"Dorothy and I didn't even find our dad," I told her.
My tears welled up again.
"Are you okay, Sophie? You keep tearing up," Nichole noticed.
I gave her a yes nod.
If I spoke. I would have cried.
"Could you please pick my blankets?
They are in my closet. " I asked.
"Sure," Nichole went fetching two from my closet.
"Could you bring all of them? I'm feeling cold, "I lied.
"It's 95 degrees Fahrenheit. What this head injury has done to you," Nichole said walking back to my closet.
Nichole brought out all of them from my closet.
"I don't get it. Why do you have 20 blankets? "Nichole said baffled.
"Gifts from my grandma. I had about 50 but I told her I wanted to donate some, "I explained.
" That's so sweet of you, "Nichole replied.
"I'm going to nap," I said.
"Sure, bye. Get well soon," Nichole said leaving my room.
I waved to her.
I unfolded my blankets and buried myself underneath them.
Dorothy's POV
I knocked on Sophie's door.
She didn't answer.
I entered anyway.
I saw a pile of blankets on her bed.
"Sophie," I pulled off the blankets and I saw her face stained with tears.
When she saw me she wrapped her arms around me and started to bawl.
I haven't seen her cry for a very, very long time. I rubbed her back and hushed her.
"It's okay," I hushed her.
She continued to sob.
I stayed there and tried to comfort her trying to tell her it would all be okay.
When she finally calmed down she spoke, "I'm sorry", She choked out.
"You don't need to apologize. What's wrong? Why are you crying?" I was willing to help her.
"I kinda feel... betrayed. I miss Dad. After all this well yeah, we know who kidnapped him but where is he?" Her voice kept cracking.
"I get you. I think you need to pig out on some ice cream. Let's go downstairs. So Mum knows you are okay?" I was being cautious with my words.
Sophie's POV
"Sophie, were you crying?" Crap. Mom noticed.
Mothers know everything.
I nodded.
"It's okay to cry Hon. You may be traumatized by what happened and it's common to feel emotional when you have a concussion," Mom explained pulling me into a hug.
The doorbell rang. Dorothy went to pick and I saw Mrs Brian and Tim.
I felt tears well up and I held them back.
My Mom stepped forward, "I don't think it's healthy for Sophie to see you".
"Can we come in, please ?" Mrs Brian said.
Dorothy rolled her eyes and let them in.
My tears welled up again.
"First of all, we are so sorry Sophie for what happened to you. I had no idea that my son and my husband would do something like that was so evil," Mrs Brian continued, "I can't fathom the fact that he was able to kidnap your father and your husband . So Tim and I would like to say sorry for the irreparable trauma and fear they caused".
I could feel the tears about to fall.
Dorothy noticed. "Could you please leave?"
They quietly left our home.
I rushed upstairs.
Was I emotional because I felt betrayed? Yes.
Was I emotional because I missed Dad and I was fee up because I couldn't find him? Yes.
Was I crying because I was angry? Yes.
I went to the murder board and circled Mr Brian's face.
I wrote underneath the main question.
Mr Brian kidnapped Mr David Gordon.
I picked up another piece of paper and wrote it next to that question.
Where is David Gordon??
