After 3 days of pondering about my own feelings and my suspicions about Dr. Jeon, I finally went back to visit him. I brought some sweets for the receptionist as my ticket in. Lucky for me, he's actually a big fan of our brand and has always wanted to try out the items I just gave him. After that, I went ahead and walked to where Dr. Jeon was. He was sitting at his desk surrounded by mountains of charts. He looked drained out by the looks of it and somehow...jumpy? What was he doing before I entered? Did I interrupt something? Or perhaps....was he thinking of me?
"You really came?"
His voice was deep and very captivating. I can't seem to stop smiling every time I'm around him. Is this love? Or is this the start of my psychotic awakening?
"Doc, do you happen to like candy?"
His expressions seemed to harden. Does he hate it that much?
"Not really. I'm guessing you know why." Of course, he is a dentist after all. I really wanted to spoil him with sweets though. I heard that's what people do to someone they like---LIKE??? Do I like the doctor in THAT WAY??? Damn these feelings are starting to mess with me now. What does he even see me as? Just a patient? I doubt he even sees me as a friend. He's very hard to read.
"I've been eating dark chocolates these days as they seem to suit my tastes the best."
"Hmmm is that so? Then I will bring you some when I come back next time."
Is this the way to approach him? Am I pushing my boundaries too far?
"You really don't need to though."
"I insist. I know a good place that sells rich dark chocolates."
The corners of his mouth rose and fell. As if trying to hold back a smile. Does he like dark chocolate that much but is too reluctant to say yes?
"Do what you want then."
I'm definitely giving him the best sellers that we have at the shop.
Seeing him work was very calming for some reason. The warm lighting around the corners of the room plus the sound of rustling charts and the air purifier purring beside his desk were enough to make me drowsy. I slumped on my chair and before I knew it I was already asleep.
In that short time I napped, I dreamt of the masked regular at the shop. I haven't been able to see him after I took work off because of my toothache. I haven't worked the night shift again as well since I had paperwork to tend to in the morning and by the start of the night shift I was too tired to work. Vernon saw this and suggested we swap shifts for the time being until all the paperwork was dealt with.
Does he still come by the shop? Does he even realize I haven't been working there these past weeks? I kept thinking of him but I doubt he even thinks of me as much as I do. He probably just sees me as a cashier at his favorite candy shop. And to think that I have feelings for him as well.
My dream sure was something else. In my dream he just went about and did what he usually does at the store.
"Here's the payment."
"Thank you, here's your bag, enjoy your night."
Usually at this point he just gives me a slight nod and leaves, but for some reason he stayed and just stood there staring at me.
"Sir? Is there anything else?"
"Your hair."
"My hair?" it just dawned on me that I forgot to wear the hat that was part of the shop's uniform and that all this time my hair has been swaying around the air unkempt.
