I was literally starting to lose my head.
Wonwoo went to his closet after seeing his ex call him up. Why in the world would his ex be calling him? Does he want him back? Is Wonwoo going to leave me for him? Do I have to learn how to hide a body at this rate?
The call dragged on for what felt like hours. I checked to see the time on my phone and was surprised that only 5 minutes had gone by. My knee was practically vibrating at this point from the amount of anxiety I was feeling. We just started dating and here comes his ex trying to break us apart.
"Sorry that took a while." he emerged from his closet door and casually sat beside me again on the couch.
"So, you got any questions for me?"
"Is he planning on taking you away from me? Cause if he is, I'm not backing down."
"Jeez chill. He just sent me his wedding invitation."
"He's getting married and he's inviting you? Aren't you on bad terms?"
"I never said we were. I just have complicated feelings about the whole thing we had, that's all."
Complicated feelings? Does that mean he still likes him? Is he regretting this now?
"And before that pretty head of yours goes running some place else, no. I don't like him anymore. He was indeed someone I liked back then, but that was all in the past." The look on his face was genuine. The small curl on the corner of his lips, reassuring me to stop overthinking things and just trust him.
"Really? You mean that?"
"I've got a very cute boyfriend right here, why else would I look for someone else?"
"Wonwoo! Stop! My heart can't handle this." his laugh was enough to settle down the brewing anxiety that I was drowning in just moments earlier. I have so much to learn about him. So much I'm curious about, but I wouldn't want to pressure him into opening up too soon to me. If he wishes to tell me now or later, then I'll respect that.
"Anyways, when will the wedding be?"
"It'll be early next year. They're still in Canada right now actually. They just sent out the invitations early so that their guests could plan ahead in their schedules."
"That's considerate of them. Oh, how's your hand by the way?" his hand has been bandaged now for 8 days. He insists that his hand is getting better, but I can still see him wince every now and then whenever he acts a bit careless with his hand.
"It's doing well. I should probably call Minghao to get this changed before we leave, right?"
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea."
The call was short. Minghao arrived a few minutes later and looked grumpier than he did the last time I saw him.
"Do you want anything to drink?" We both waited at the kitchen island as Wonwoo went to the bathroom to do his business.
"Do you happen to have hardcore Chinese liquor somewhere here in this barren kitchen of your boo's?"
"Umm I don't think so."
"Then forget it."
"Hey don't snap at Mingyu. He's just trying to straighten out that frowning face of yours." he walks out of the bathroom door and joins us in the kitchen. He then places his good hand on my back and pats it gently.
"Whatever. My bad, Mingyu. Anyways let's just get this over with so you two love birds can get along on that trip of yours."
"Seriously dude, what got you so pissy like this?"
