The training grounds at U.A. were vast and filled with the sounds of classmates practicing their quirks. Y/N adjusted her wrist guards and scanned the area for her partner, only to have her heart skip a beat when she saw him walking toward her.
Bakugou.
His hands were shoved deep into his pockets, but there was that ever-present scowl on his face. He was muttering to himself as he got closer, clearly annoyed about something.
"Great," Y/N muttered under her breath. "Of all the people..."
As if sensing her frustration, Hanta jogged up behind her. "Hey, so, change of plans," he started, running a hand through his dark hair. "I gotta pair with Kirishima. You're sparring with Bakugou today."
"What?!" Y/N's eyes widened. "Why me?"
Hanta shrugged, already backing away. "Don't look at me. Something about wanting to test his strength against new quirks. Don't get blown up."
Before she could argue, Hanta was already across the field, laughing as he greeted Kirishima. Y/N's heart sank, but she wasn't about to back down now. She wasn't weak, and she wasn't afraid of Bakugou. At least, that's what she told herself as he approached her.
"Oi, Sero's sister," Bakugou's gruff voice snapped her attention. "You better not be as useless as your brother."
Y/N bristled. "Excuse me?"
Bakugou raised an eyebrow, his usual arrogance on full display. "You heard me. Don't waste my time."
Her temper flared. "You're gonna regret saying that," she growled, hands already crackling with energy.
Bakugou smirked, clearly unfazed by her threat. "Bring it, then."
Without another word, the spar began. Y/N moved quickly, launching a blast of energy towards him. Bakugou dodged effortlessly, his movements smooth and calculated. He countered with a series of small explosions, but she managed to dodge, her speed matching his in ways that surprised even her.
For the next few minutes, the air between them was filled with explosions and quick reflexes. Y/N's heart pounded in her chest, both from exertion and from the adrenaline of being this close to him—of having all his attention focused entirely on her.
"You're not half bad, Sero's sister," Bakugou grunted, wiping some sweat from his brow as they paused for a breather.
Y/N smirked, feeling a surge of pride. "I told you not to underestimate me."
But before she could say anything else, Bakugou's smirk faded, and his eyes darkened with something unreadable. "You think I'm underestimating you?"
Her breath hitched at the intensity in his voice. "What do you mean?"
Bakugou took a step closer, his fiery gaze locking with hers. "If I didn't think you could handle it, I wouldn't even be here."
Y/N swallowed, the space between them suddenly feeling smaller. Too small. Her pulse raced, and she was hyper-aware of how close he was standing. Close enough that she could feel the heat radiating off him.
"You talk big," Y/N said, trying to sound unaffected, though her voice wavered slightly.
Bakugou's lips quirked into a smirk. "Just wait. You've only seen the beginning."
And somehow, she knew he wasn't just talking about their fight.
