The kiss lingered on Y/N's lips long after Bakugou had left her room that night. She could still feel the warmth of his touch, the way his grip on her was both possessive and careful, and it left her heart racing well into the early hours of the morning.
Bakugou had feelings for her.
It was a thought she couldn't quite wrap her head around. She had known him for a long time now, long enough to know that he wasn't the type to open up easily. He was guarded, fiercely protective of his emotions, and for him to admit that he cared—it was more than she ever expected.
But as much as she liked him—and she did, more than she was ready to admit—there was still that small part of her that was hesitant. Relationships were complicated. Feelings could change, people could hurt you, and after everything she'd been through, the last thing she wanted was to get too close, only to end up broken again.
Still, Bakugou wasn't like anyone else. He was intense, yes, but he was also loyal, and in his own way, he made her feel safe. Safer than she had felt in a long time.
As the days passed, the dynamic between them started to shift. They didn't exactly talk about what had happened that night—neither of them were the type to overanalyze their feelings—but there was something unspoken between them, something that drew them closer together.
The next morning, Y/N found herself more aware of Bakugou's presence than usual. During training, she noticed the way his eyes seemed to linger on her just a bit longer, how he was less abrasive when they sparred, though he'd never admit it. There were subtle changes in the way he acted around her, small things only she seemed to notice.
And she wasn't the only one feeling it. Every time their gazes met, there was a spark, something electric that made her chest tighten. It was like they were both trying to figure out what to do next without actually saying anything.
It was confusing, exhilarating, and a little terrifying.
Y/N hadn't told anyone about what had happened between them, not even her brother Hanta. She wasn't sure how to explain it yet. Besides, the last thing she wanted was for the others to start asking questions she wasn't ready to answer. This thing with Bakugou—whatever it was—was still too new, too fragile.
But Mina, of course, was starting to get suspicious.
They were in the common room later that evening, hanging out with the Bakusquad like they usually did. Kirishima and Kaminari were challenging each other to arm wrestling, while Sero cheered them on from the sidelines. Mina sat next to Y/N on the couch, her sharp eyes flitting between her and Bakugou, who was leaning against the wall across the room, arms crossed, looking as brooding as ever.
Y/N could feel Mina's gaze on her, could sense the wheels turning in her friend's head, but she tried to focus on the chaos happening in front of them instead.
"You're being quiet," Mina finally said, her voice low so the others wouldn't overhear. "That's not like you."
Y/N blinked, turning to her. "What do you mean? I'm just watching."
