The atmosphere at U.A. was unusually tense. As classes gathered for their daily briefing, murmurs filled the air about a recent encounter between the Pro Heroes and the League of Villains. Y/N sat quietly in her seat, her heart pounding as she listened to the heroes recount their stories.
"We were close to catching them," Eraser Head stated, his voice steady but strained. "But they slipped through our fingers. We sustained injuries, but the League got away."
Y/N's heart sank as she observed the bruised and battered heroes. Midnight had a deep gash on her arm, while a few others bore bandages and limps. The sight stirred something deep inside Y/N—a mix of worry and empathy. She knew that while the League had made some questionable choices, they were still human, fighting their own battles.
"Are they okay?" Y/N blurted out, surprising everyone with her sudden outburst.
The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to her. Bakugou's brow furrowed in confusion. "Who cares about those villains?"
"I do," Y/N said, her voice firm yet shaking. "What if they're hurt? What if they need help?"
"What they need is to be taken down," Kirishima chimed in, a hint of concern in his voice. "Y/N, you can't keep defending them. They're dangerous."
"I know that!" she snapped, frustration bubbling to the surface. "But they're still people. I can't just ignore the fact that they might be suffering."
The tension in the room was palpable, and Y/N could feel the weight of their disapproval. But she couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had settled in her stomach.
After the meeting, Y/N slipped out of the classroom, her mind racing. She needed to check on them, to see if they were okay. She quickly made her way out of U.A., determination coursing through her veins.
As she wandered through the dimly lit streets, she felt a sense of urgency. Each shadow seemed to whisper secrets of where the League might be hiding, but as the minutes ticked by, Y/N found nothing. Just as she was about to give up hope, she heard a faint laugh echoing through the alleyways.
"Come on, Toga, we need to lay low for a bit," a voice she recognized as Dabi's called out.
Her heart racing, Y/N followed the sound, her instincts guiding her through the darkness. As she turned a corner, she found them—Dabi, Toga, and Kurogiri huddled together, their expressions more relaxed than she'd expected.
"Y/N? What are you doing here?" Kurogiri asked, his tone neutral but curious.
"I was... worried about you all," Y/N admitted, taking a step forward. "I saw the Pro Heroes. They looked bad. Are you okay?"
Dabi raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "You're worried about us? That's a new one."
Y/N crossed her arms, trying to mask her embarrassment. "I just want to know if you're hurt or anything."
"Nothing we can't handle," Toga chimed in, her usual cheerfulness on full display despite the recent skirmish. But Y/N noticed the way she winced slightly as she moved.
"Really? Because you don't look so good," Y/N replied, her concern deepening as she approached them.
Dabi shrugged, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes. "We're tougher than we look."
"Seriously, let me help," Y/N insisted. "I can't just stand by while you're all injured."
Kurogiri looked at her, surprised by her determination. "You want to help us?"
"Yes!" Y/N exclaimed. "You've all been through a lot, and I can't just turn away. Let me carry your injuries."
The group exchanged glances, a mixture of shock and amusement on their faces.
"You really mean that?" Dabi asked, his smirk faltering for a moment.
"Of course I do. Just let me see," Y/N said, stepping closer.
She focused her energy, her quirk allowing her to heal minor wounds. With careful precision, she approached Toga first, gently touching her arm where a bruise had formed. "This might sting a little," she warned, but Toga only giggled, clearly enjoying the attention.
As Y/N worked, she felt the warmth of Toga's gratitude and relief. Next, she moved to Kurogiri, who had a few scrapes on his arms. "You need to be more careful," she chided gently, focusing her energy as she healed him.
"You should be more careful yourself," he replied, his voice softening. "This isn't a safe path you're walking."
Finally, she turned to Dabi, who hesitated but eventually relented. "Fine, but don't think I'll let you get too close," he warned, a playful glint in his eyes.
"I wouldn't dream of it," Y/N replied with a small smile.
As she healed his wounds, she could feel the tension dissipating between them. It was strange to see them in a different light, not just as villains, but as people with their own struggles and pain.
"Why do you care so much?" Dabi finally asked, his voice low.
"Because I know what it's like to feel lost and hurt," Y/N confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I want to help. You've all been through a lot. I can't just ignore that."
For a moment, the group was silent, the weight of her words hanging in the air. Finally, Toga grinned, her usual enthusiasm returning. "You're the best, Y/N! You're like our hero!"
Y/N chuckled, feeling a warmth spread through her heart. "I'm no hero. I just want to help where I can."
As they finished up, the reality of her actions began to settle in. She had crossed a line, stepping into the world of villains, but something about it felt right. They were misfits in their own way, just like her.
"Alright, we should get going," Kurogiri said, glancing around cautiously. "It's not safe to linger here for too long."
Y/N nodded, feeling a strange sense of camaraderie with them. As they prepared to part ways, Dabi stepped closer, his expression suddenly serious.
"Thanks for caring, Y/N," he said, his voice low. "Not many people would do what you just did."
"Just take care of yourselves, okay?" Y/N replied, her heart swelling with an unexpected connection.
As she turned to leave, she felt a mixture of relief and anxiety wash over her. The night had been a whirlwind of emotions, and she had taken a step deeper into the unknown. But for the first time, she felt like she was truly making a difference—no matter how small it was.
As she made her way back to U.A., a sense of resolve filled her. She might be walking a fine line between worlds, but she was determined to forge her own path, one that could bridge the gaps between heroes and villains.
