The soft glow of the moon filtered through the curtains of Y/N's room, casting gentle shadows on the walls as she lay in bed, deep in sleep. Her face was serene, the tears from earlier long dried, leaving only a trace of the emotional turmoil she had faced. In the adjoining room, Sero was still awake, scrolling through his phone and lost in thought.
The quiet of the night was broken by a gentle knock at his door. Startled, Sero looked up to find Bakugou standing there, his expression unreadable. "Hey," Sero said, setting his phone aside. "What's up?"
Bakugou shifted uncomfortably, his hands stuffed deep into his pockets. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah, of course," Sero replied, stepping aside to let him in. Bakugou walked into the room, closing the door behind him. The atmosphere was tense, thick with unspoken words as Sero leaned against his desk, crossing his arms. "What's going on? You look like you're about to explode."
Bakugou rubbed the back of his neck, frustration bubbling just beneath the surface. "I talked to Y/N earlier. She—she told me about her past."
Sero's brow furrowed with concern. "Oh... she finally opened up to you?"
"Yeah," Bakugou said, his voice laced with anger, but not at Y/N. "That bastard... her ex. He's the reason she flinches. She said he would yell and throw things, and I can't believe I made her feel that way." His fists clenched at his sides, anger pulsing through him at the thought of someone treating her so badly. "How could anyone do that?"
"Some people are just messed up," Sero replied quietly. "But Y/N is stronger than she thinks. She's been through so much, and it's not easy for her to just open up about it."
Bakugou's expression hardened. "You knew, didn't you? You knew what she went through and didn't tell me."
Sero nodded, his gaze steady. "Yeah, I did. She made me promise not to say anything. I didn't want to betray her trust, but I can see how much pain it caused her."
"Damn it, Sero," Bakugou said, frustration spilling over. "I could have done something! I could have helped her if I'd known!"
"I get it, but you need to understand that it's not that simple. She's been trying to cope with it on her own. You have to give her time," Sero explained, his voice calm but firm.
Bakugou paced the small room, running a hand through his spiky hair. "Time? What if I screw up again? I don't want to make her flinch or think I'm like him. I just— I want to be there for her, but I don't know how."
"Just be patient, Bakugou. Let her know that you're there for her," Sero advised. "She needs your support now more than ever. Don't push her. She'll open up when she's ready."
Bakugou stopped pacing and leaned against the wall, his expression conflicted. "I just feel so helpless. I hate seeing her like this. She deserves to be happy."
"She will be happy," Sero reassured him. "With time and support, she'll find her way back to herself. You've already made a difference just by being there for her. Just keep showing her that you care."
Bakugou sighed, the weight of Sero's words sinking in. "I don't want to be a reminder of her past. I want to be someone she can rely on."
"You are that person, Bakugou. She trusts you, even if it doesn't feel that way right now," Sero said. "Just give her the space she needs and keep being the person you are."
Bakugou nodded slowly, absorbing Sero's advice. "Thanks, man. I just... I can't shake this feeling of anger towards that guy. I want to make him pay for what he did to her."
"I get it. Trust me, I do," Sero replied, his expression darkening. "But you need to channel that anger into something constructive. Be her rock. Let her know she's not alone."
"I will," Bakugou promised, his determination rekindling. "I'll do whatever it takes to help her heal."
"Good. Just remember to communicate. Don't let it build up," Sero warned. "I know you can be a bit... explosive."
Bakugou rolled his eyes but couldn't help the small smirk tugging at his lips. "Yeah, yeah. I'll keep my cool."
"Seriously, though. She cares about you, Bakugou. You're making an impact in her life, even if you can't see it yet," Sero said, a hint of warmth in his voice.
"Thanks for telling me all this," Bakugou said, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "I needed to hear it."
As he turned to leave, Sero called out, "And Bakugou?"
"Yeah?"
"Just be gentle with her. She needs that now more than ever."
Bakugou nodded, a newfound determination igniting within him. "I will."
As he walked back to his room, Bakugou's mind raced with thoughts of Y/N. He could still picture the way her eyes had glimmered with unshed tears, how fragile she had seemed. He was determined to show her that she could trust him, that he would never hurt her the way her ex had.
When he finally reached his room, he glanced toward Y/N's door, feeling a surge of protectiveness. She was worth every bit of effort he could give. With a sigh, he settled down in his bed, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead for them both.
