A/N: I'm so sorry for the long wait on this one, but this story was requested by- Wolfi_TMR

In this story reader will have powers like Wanda Maximoff (for those who don't know her powers stem from chaos magic and include things such as telepathy, teleportation, flying/hovering, and a wide range of hexes/spells that can bend reality). However, readers main color will be black instead of Wanda's red plus she'll mostly be using her teleportation. Also, due to the nature of the request this story takes place before the events of Umbrella Academy season 1.

TRIGGER WARNING: Scenes that include verbal and physical abuse from Y/N's parents. If this could at all be triggering for you, I suggest you skip the flash back at the very least.

FLASH BACK- READERS POV 2nd PERSON:

"GET OUT!" A potted plant is chucked full speed at your head though you thankfully manage to duck in the nick of time. "This is why I didn't want to tell you! I knew you wouldn't understand!" Tears run down your face like a waterfall as you stand across the room from your parents. Your father has his arms crossed as he slowly shakes his head, his posture insinuating that he'd rather be anywhere else. However, your mother is seething with rage, her face burns a bright red, and her arm is still raised from when she threw the plant at you. "We understand perfectly fine just how much of a FREAK you clearly are..." You shuffle back attempting to make yourself appear smaller due to your father's harsh words. "I'm not a freak dad, I was just... given a gift." "A curse more like it." He grunts out. "A curse sure, but I'm still your daughter. This changes nothing!" Your mother bursts out into obnoxious laughter after you say this. "Oh, this changes everything. How dare you hide from us what a monster you truly are! YOU'RE NO CHILD OF MINE, YOU NEVER HAVE BEEN!" She screams the end of her sentence causing you to subtly flinch away. She laughs again. "You're pathetic... get out." You freeze. You know she'd already told you to get out, you just thought you'd be able to talk some sense into them, though from the looks on their faces... that ship has long since sailed, along with life as you currently know it.

Unable to hold yourself back any longer, you scoff at their ridiculous actions. Your father raises a brow. "Did I hear that correctly? You dare scoff at me and your mother?" You hold your head up high, despite feeling a few stray tears that you unfortunately can't hold back trail down your cheeks. "You're clearly no parents of mine so I can do and say whatever I want now." He steps towards you. "Is that so?" "Yeah... it IS..." Pure instinct kicks in as you watch him raise his fist in the air. Without warning your eyes subconsciously flick to black, and you let yourself go, allowing your powers to take over...

PRESENT TIME- READERS POV. 2nd PERSON:

An ear-piercing alarm thankfully distracts you from continuing to relive that dreadful moment. You briefly pause to take stock of where you are and what you were in the middle of doing. Looking out from under the hood you're currently wearing, you see a bag of food in your hand. 'Oh yeah... I'm stealing.' You muse. A shout from in front of you causes your head to shoot up. A very angry employee is currently making their way towards you, so you quickly wave your hand at them, generating a small breeze they end up tripping on. With the employee fortunately distracted you make your escape by rushing out the door, pulling your hood down to further cover yourself from any unwanted prying eyes.

You manage to make it to a back alley behind the shop before another voice pipes up, this time from right next to you and distinctly less angry. "Stealing is bad you know." You gasp in surprise, your eyes flicker between black and your normal shade before finally settling on your natural eyes. You hold the bag of food closer to you, turning around to see a boy about the same age as you with a curious tilt to his head. He has short brown hair and is wearing what seems to be some sort of uniform. You barely manage to spot an emblem of an umbrella before the boy clears his throat, clearly aiming to get your attention. "Hello? Did you hear what I said?" You don't bother responding, instead you ready yourself to teleport away from here. Regrettably the boy rushes to grab your arm halting your masterplan. "Yeah, I don't think so. As a fellow teleporter, I know what it looks like when someone's about to blink away." You look to the boy with clear surprise in your eyes. "Fellow teleporter?" He shrugs though doesn't let go of you. "You've never heard of the Umbrella Academy before? Were on TV all the time." "I don't own a TV." Your retort seems to stun him for a brief moment, though he doesn't let it show for long. "Thats a shame... well the names Five and unfortunately for you, me and my siblings are meant to stop people like you." "People like me?"
