For the last few days I've noticed a weird smirk on Mikes face. I know he's up to something but I don't have the faintest hint as to what. Every time I ask him about it he insists it's nothing and that I'm dreaming.
After supper Saturday the doorbell rang and I immediately knew he was lying when Neil came in carrying his guitar.
"What's this?" I ask raising an eyebrow at the satisfied grin spreading across Mikes face.
"Its been a while, don't want you getting out of practice." he smirks and I snort.
"Fuck yeah it has, is our bassist here yet?" Neil asks smiling.
"Bassist? Wait, you talked her into it?" I ask unable to hide my excitement.
"She's on her way." Mike smirks and my legs start to bounce under the table.
I tried convincing Charlie to play with us the second I found out she could. She was shy and said she had never played with other people so I didn't think she would.
Her and Bobby showed up a little while later and we went downstairs.
Charlie honestly didn't give herself enough credit. She could play well and kept up with us no problem, even when we tried out some heavier songs she wasn't exactly familiar with. Her taste in music wasn't far off from what we listened too. She liked some of the same heavier rock and softer metal bands Mike did so we knew a lot of the same songs. We had fun and played for hours while Mike and Bobby sat on the couch and watched.
After playing for a while Charlie started to open up a bit and was a lot more relaxed. I think we'll have an easier time getting her to come jam with us now. It feels great to play with other people again, I really missed that. Playing by myself is fine but having other instruments to follow is a lot more fun.
After they left I was still vibrating and went over to join Mike on the couch. He had a big smile on his face and I could tell he had as much fun as I did.
"Enjoy the show?" I smirk as I lean against him.
"Always, I missed seeing you guys play." he smiles and hugs me.
"At least you knew some of the songs this time." I laugh and he pulls back.
"I always know the songs you play." he chuckles and I snort then he pulls away and looks at me. "Come on Ty, I've been with you long enough, I know the music you listen to." he argues and I laugh.
"Yeah okay, you know some of it." I scoff and he sits back and crosses his arms.
"Try me." he insists nodding at me with a cocky look on his face.
You asked for it.
I get up and go over to the laptop disconnecting the headphones and pull up one of my playlists picking a random song.
