Later that evening I messaged the group to tell them what the doctor said and Ty's decision. Just as I expected, Andre was pissed. Eddie said he understood why he would feel that way, he wouldn't want to be a test subject either. Neil basically said its Ty's decision and we should stay out of it. I asked if he wanted to come play for a bit Saturday to get Tyler's mind off of things. He said he was in and after texting Charlie and Bobby our plans for the weekend were made.
They all came over for a while in the evening and we sat downstairs while they played. I sat beside Ty the whole time just in case. I have a fear of him falling into the drum set and getting hurt ever since he told me how he got the scar on his neck.
I would hate to have to tell his mom it happened again. I know she counts on me to keep him safe and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
Even if he gets a little bitchy about it sometimes.
Sunday we hung around and watched T.V.
I spent most of the day on my laptop researching alternative treatments. I found a few things that some people have had success with. Getting Tyler to try them may be a different story.
By noon he was in the kitchen making waffles.
I had to laugh when put syrup, whipped cream and sprinkles on top. I swear he's just an overgrown child. While we ate I figured I'd mention some of the stuff I found online.
"I think we should try the keto diet." I state and he looks up at me raising his eyebrows.
"You think we need a diet? What, are you scared your getting fat?" he jokes and I roll my eyes.
"Its supposed to decrease seizures." I state and shake my head.
"A diet." he repeats skeptically.
"Its worth a shot, if nothing else we eat a little healthier." I shrug and he laughs.
"Medication formulated specifically to stop seizures doesn't work and you think eating healthier will?" he says still laughing and I shake my head.
"It works for some people." I argue and he raises his eyebrows.
"So does faith healing and exorcisms. Wana go find a priest?" he mocks and I glare at him.
"Funny. I'm just saying I don't think it would hurt to try since you don't want to try any of the options the doctor suggested." I state pushing a piece of waffle around my plate with my fork. He sighs and sits back in his chair.
"Come on Mike, you were there, even he admitted that the chances of any of it working were slim. My brains stubborn, it's going to do what it wants anyway so why fuck with it?" he says finally dropping the sarcasm.
"That doesn't mean we can't try some of the alternative options. What about acupuncture?" I suggest and he chuckles and looks at the ink on his arm.
