The next day I wake up still feeling like I fell off a cliff but drag myself out of bed to get dressed.
When I get to the kitchen Mike does a double take then frowns at me.
"Where's your sling?" he asks and I scoff.
"I'm not wearing it. I played along last time and it didn't make any difference. I'm not doing that shit again, my arm's fine." I insist and he shakes his head.
"Andre will kill you if he finds out." he warns and I laugh.
"Let him try. I lived with him long enough, I can handle Andre." I tease and he raises an eyebrow.
"Okay, as long as he doesn't sic Kate on you." he laughs and I shake my head.
"I'll just pick her up." I shrug and he laughs harder.
"I put your new meds in your bag and talked to the guys so they know what to do." he says handing me my backpack.
"What?" I ask not sure what he's talking about.
"Do you remember talking to your doctor at the hospital yesterday?" he asks raising his eyebrows.
I think for a second then shake my head.
"I don't remember a whole lot about yesterday." I admit and he chuckles.
"Not surprised, you were high as a kite. Your neurologist came to the hospital to see you, gave us some new meds to try during your seizures to help with the confusion." he says and I try to remember but honestly get nothing.
"Oh." I mutter and he laughs.
"Have a good day." he smirks and kisses me before I leave.
When I get to work Chad's already in the back labeling inventory. It's a good thing Neil opens and Eddie closes or everyone would be late in the morning. I grab the portable speaker and pair it to my phone before setting it on the counter and grabbing my recipe cards. I start with a batch of cookies then while their baking melt some chocolate so I can make some more of those. They seem to fly off the shelves as soon as we stock them.
"What the hell are you listening to?" Chad asks coming over once he's done labeling.
I raise my eyebrows and look at him surprised he doesn't even recognize Slipknot.
"Music, what do you listen to?" I ask a little afraid of what his answer is going to be.
"Oh I listen to music but I'm not sure what this is." he laughs and shakes his head.
