After giving the doctor a copy of the calendar I keep track of Ty's seizures on and explaining what's been going on she nods her head then looks up at Ty who's been silent this whole time.

"What happened to your head?" she asks and he glances up at her.

"I Fell." he mutters and I sigh.

"He was stocking shelves on a ladder at work and had a seizure, he pulled the shelf down on top of him and sliced open the side of his head." I explain and she nods again.

"Do you get hurt a lot when you seize?" she asks looking back at him but he just shrugs.

"Yeah he does." I state glaring at him but I don't think he even notices, he's not looking at either of us.

The doctor flips through a couple pages on his chart then looks up at him.

"Well, I don't see a lot you haven't tried already. I'm sure you've been told of the various surgical options." She says and Ty shakes his head.

"No thanks." he states and she nods.

"There is a new medication we can try. Its been successful in some cases although it's a process to get on it. You would have to be weaned off the medication your currently taking and slowly put on this one. We would hospitalize you during the transition as it can be a little risky until the proper dosage is found." she says and I glance over at Ty who's looking at his hands in his lap and not saying a word.

The doctor hands me a pamphlet on the new medication and I take it even though I can already tell he's not thrilled about it.

"Is it possible that the meds he's on right now are causing the confusion to last so long after he wakes from a seizure?" I ask secretly crossing my fingers.

"The prolonged confusion is more likely to be caused by the area of the brain that's being affected right now. From what you've described it sounds like his brain is taking longer to come out of the postictal state and due to the location of the seizures its affecting his senses which can make it take a lot longer to straighten out. With this being the case and from what I can see with the amount of injuries you've had from seizing recently I would highly suggest you stop working, the stress alone could be aggravating the seizures." she says and I can see Tyler clench his fists from the corner of my eye.

"Well for now I will give you these, and you can discuss what you want to do. We can make an appointment for say a weeks time and go over it again once you've had some time to think about it." the doctor says handing me a couple more papers. I quickly glance at them and see one is basically an info sheet outlining the different surgical options for epilepsy. Flipping to the second page I see an application for disability.

I don't even need to look at Ty to know he's mad. I can feel it radiating off him, I'm surprised he's not yelling right now.

I thank the doctor, and get up to shake her hand before we leave.
