I struggled to open my locker. I hit it, and it popped open. On the inside were red roses, a small white teddybear that read a red heart with the words 'I love you' on it, and a small card with my name on the front.

I pulled it out of my locker and held the items in my arms. I opened the card and read it.

Dear Adriana-Camila,
Your eyes are like fire
Your heart is what I desire
Meet me in the art room
I promise I'm not a liar
P.S. Don't ask how I got your locker combination♡

I held the items close to my chest with a smile as I walked to the art room. I opened the door and the room was dark. Until the light came on, and a canva sat in the middle of the room with rose petals leading to it.

"Will you go out with me?" I read aloud. I turned around and followed the rose petals with my eyes. At the end of the trail was Matteo.

"Will you?" He asked. "After that, I don't know how to say no." I replied. Matteo smiled. "So, didn't you like my poem?" "I did, but the P.S. makes me wanna ask." I replied. "Okay, okay, I snuck into the Principals office and found your combination."

I laughed. "All that just to ask me out?" "Yeah, I gotta get creative just in case some guy tries to wow you with a skywriter in the future." "Are you gonna be that guy?" "I sure hope so." I smiled.

"Well, Duben's out sick again." Shawn said.

"Health teacher sick again?" Cory questioned. "Not a lot of credibility." "I wonder what creepy substitute we'll get today." I said.

A lady walked in and over to Mr. Duben's desk. "Wow." Cory said. "That is no substitute. That is the real thing." Shawn said. He ran over to take a seat in the front row in front of the lady.

"Good afternoon, class. I'm Ms. Kelly and I'll be filling in for Mr. Duben for the next few days." She said. Shawn stood up. "On behalf of the entire class I'd like to say, stay as long as you like."

She gave Shawn a smile before filling through the papers in her hand. "Now, right now, you seem to be covering–" Shawn cut Ms. Kelly off. "CPR– and I'm today's dummy."

"No. Actually, we seem to be up to human reproduction, which I hope we can in a mature fashion." Ms. Kelly said. Most of the class laughed. "Oh, stop being so young." Shawn said, turning around.

"You know, I'm not as young as they are. I've stayed back like fifty times." "Really. How old are you?" Ms. Kelly asked. "Twenty-four?" "Really? What are you doing in a seventh grade classroom?" "I'm a cop." Ms. Kelly laughed quietly.

"Sit down." She said. "Alright, but... I'm watching you." He said, retreating back to his desk. "Alright, who can tell us the name of the organ where the eggs are stored? Officer?" She asked. "Sorry, Ms. Kelly. I don’t have that stuff. I can name the stuff I have. Or at least what I call them."

Ms. Kelly turned around and pointed to Cory. "The name of the place where the eggs are stored." "What are the gonads?" Cory replied. "No, sorry. I was looking for "What are the ovaries?" Ms. Kelly said. "Oh, the o— yeah, I always mix those two up."

"Try not to. Your future will be brighter. Can you tell us anything about ovulation or how pregnancy occurs?" "Well, the man's for the sperm, and the woman's got the egg. Now, once a month, an egg slides down the Philippine tube towards the uterus." I'm not even going to correct him this time. This is funny.

"The first sperm to reach the egg wins. It gets a medal, it's born, you name him Cory, you push him out the door, and nothing makes sense for the rest of his life." Ms. Kelly let out an amused laugh. "Well, congratulations, you seem to have a thorough understanding of the life cycle."
