It seems like the world doesn't want to let me be at peace just when I'm beginning to hope for the happiness I've deprived myself of.

I stormed out of the office immediately after the call ended. I rushed to the parking area of the site to find my car. I’m not even thinking rational right now, I just want to see Kaye.

“Lieutenant.”

“Let go, Aeros.” I said.

“Where are you going?”

“For pete’s sake, bitawan mo ang pinto!”

I stared at him blankly. “Please..”

“Give me back the damn key! “

“What happened?” he asked instead, putting the key inside his pocket.

“I need to go.”

“Go where?”  naging seryoso na ang tingin niya sa’kin.

Napapikit ako sa inis. “Just give me the key.”

Mabilis niya akong tinalikuran at nagsimulang maglakad palayo sa parking area.

“I won’t give this to you unless you tell me what the heck is going on with you.”

Naiyak na lang ako dahil sa galit. Napasandal ako sa aking kotse. When he noticed that I wasn’t following him, he looked back at me.

“Damn, why are you crying?” tinakbo niya ang distansya sa pagitan namin para lapitan ako.

“He kidnapped Kaye.” Pag-amin ko.

He squinted his eyes. “What do you mean?”

I cried. Napayuko ako sa dibdib niya.

Napamura siya habang yakap ako. After a second, he suddenly whistled. Five men wearing black casual uniforms appeared in front of us. I’m guessing these are the private agents that Tito Deo hired for Aeros.

“Sir!” they greeted Aeros in chorus.

“Please get the CCTV footage in front of Clark University and send it to me as soon as possible.”

“Copy that, Sir.”

“Thank you.”

“Yes, Maru. For now, let’s go, I’ll drive.”

He started the engine of his car, pero hindi pa kami umaalis. He opened his phone and made a call.

“Bro,”

“You take care of the team for now. Just follow the progress. I have something important to do.”

[“Alright, take care, bro.”]

After the call, Aeros started to drive away from the site.

“Saan tayo pupunta?” I asked because I don’t have the slightest idea of where we are going.
