“Why? Do you even have plan to tell me?”
I sighed. “Don’t answer me with another question, Aeros.”
“Sa ating dalawa, hindi ba dapat ako yung may mas karapatang magtanong? You didn’t say a thing to me, Maru. I respected that, but it doesn’t mean I’m not curious at all, that I didn’t care at all.”
I heaved another sigh. Our strong gazes locked on each other and none of us are willing to break the tension.
“I’m sorry,” I gave up. “I had to do it alone. Alam kong pag nalaman mo, tutulungan mo ako, and I don’t need help from anyone.”
“How can you be so sure? Don’t you trust me enough to tell me about your plans?
“That night I saw your SOA, you lost your scholarship, right?”
“You started to change. At first, I wasn’t worried.
“And so I let you, I didn’t ask. Hinayaan kita, but things took a turn for the worse. Ate Linda told me you were starving yourself and I couldn’t stay still. Hinahayaan kita pero hindi pwedeng ganun, Maru. You don’t know how much patience I had to take seeing you looking like this. Seeing you barely living.”
Tears automatically pooled in the corner of my eyes. I sobbed ‘cause I couldn’t stifle it anymore. I felt Aeros’s hand on my mine, slowly caressing it.
I’m not mad, baby.”
“I already paid your remaining balance, you don’t have to overwork yourself.”
Ano daw?
Kunot-noo akong tumingin sa kaniya. He wiped my tears using his thumb.
“Bakit mo ginawa ‘yun? Aeros naman eh, kaya ko naman yun.”
He chuckled softly. “I know, but I wanted to, okay?”
I rolled my eyes.
“Hey, tapos na yun.” He was about to hug me pero tinampal ko ang kamay niya. He laughed even more.
“Utang yun! Babayaran ko yun!”
“Whatever, baby.”
He embraced me tightly that I couldn’t breathe properly.
“Now, hug me back. I missed you, Maru.”
“What?”
I panicked.
“No. Mom wants to see us in 10 minutes.”
Mas lalo akong kinabahan. That sophisticated woman earlier was his mother and she seemed serious about seeing the both of us.
