I condemned myself for the idiotic act I did last Wednesday. I admit I was really irrational for letting my emotions control me. Frustrations took over me that I forgot how to keep my cool.

“She’s the General’s Daughter.”

I was peacefully enjoying my lunch break alone when William joined me.

“I didn’t ask.”

William laughed. “And I know you’re curious.”

“Stop making things up, Engineer Guzman.” I spat. I sipped on my non-coffee Vanilla drink.

“Don’t worry, she’s just an acquaintance,” He continued, renouncing my annoyance. “Aeros met her during board review. Lei was helping him during his review sessions and later on, they became really close.”

I stayed focus on observing Aeros and Lei. I noticed every small details that Aeros would do for her.

Things he’d do for me before. I shook my head upon realizing things. There’s no need to reminisce over the past that has already done now. He lied to me, he lied to protect his friend, he chose his friend over me despite him knowing that she was a like a threat to me. And I left because life made me do it. I left because I needed to survive.

Why would he even care in the first place? How ironic, I should really stop thinking nonsense now.

“Lei is a nice person, kaya nga siguro nakagaanan siya ng loob ni Aeros.”

I remained silent.

“We’re somehow thankful to her for taking care of our friend.” I felt his gaze on me. “ I don’t know if I have the right to say this, but Aeros..”

Lumingon ako sa kaniya. He is now looking at the two persons we are talking about.

“He really suffered a lot, Liharra. Wala man akong alam sa nangyari sa’yo but I’m glad you’re here now. Aeros, I know deep down his heart, he still cares for you.” He let out those words like he was so sure of it.

“He clearly told me he doesn’t care anymore. Mas mabuti ng ganito, William, trabaho lang. No expectations, no disappointments.” I think it would be better to keep things the way they are. Maybe, we’re better off without each other.”

Happiness was never my priority.

I closed my eyes and placed my arm above my forehead.

“I’m not sure, kung wala akong gagawin sasama ako. Saan ba?”
