"Happiest people tend to be hurting the most, are you sure you're fine?" Jathen asked again, making Madrous laugh.
"I'm fine, Jath, okay lang talaga." tinitigan lang siya ni Jathen but didn't say anything.
Madrous turned at me again and he smiled, "It must been hard,"
"Hard?" tinaasan ko siya ng kilay.
"To know all this and not able to share easily." napangiti ako sa sinabi niya.
"Sinabi mo pa, I had the same feeling, sa kanya ko lang natutunan na, kung si God nga, nirerespeto ang desisyon ng mga anak niya, paano pa kaya kami? We know we can't do anything to make someone change, you can't change someone. You can only be an instrument, someone that will help them, but you can never be a reason for someone to change." Hazael was the one who answered him.
"'Di ba kaya magbago ng isang tao kapag nagmamahal sila?" we all ndoded at him.
"Yup, that's the power of love. When you love someone, you are willing to do anything for them," I smiled and nodded at him.
"Is that the raisin why it became so easy para sa inyo na i-surrender ang buhay niyo sa kanya?"
"I think it became easy because we're not doing it by ourselves, we are loving Him with the help of Him, if you don't know how to love, ask Him and he will show you, He will teach you everything you need to know, He will even teach you to love yourself."
"When you have Him, you have everything you need." nag-tanguan pa si Hazael at Jathen ng sabihin niya 'yun.
"But it looks so hard," I heard Madrous said slowly.
"Religion makes it hard, other people's perspective of it made it hard, I have the same perspective before since I'm hearing different things about it, and also about the Bible, I used to live a life kung saan ramdam ko na parang ang corny corny ng Bible and also the believers, I cringed about them before not knowing that this will be my life after a few years, other experiences made it hard, we viewed it as so many rules and dos and don'ts and everything, all these laws and other people's opinions painted the truth and made it more difficult than it really is, but loving God..." I felt my throat closing up and my eyes stinging kaya huminto ako sa pagsasalita and tried calming myself down.
"Loving God is easier than loving people, just blatantly honest." Hazael raises his hand and shakes his head.
"How come that the creator of everything, the creator of mankind, the earth, the universe, the all knowing God, the Almighty one, is easier to love than loving another human being? Did you know that He created you for Him?" natawa siya ng mahina sa huli niyang sinabi and I couldn't help but to smile.
"It's one of Ithiel's favorite verse," lumingon ako kay Jathen at nagtama ang mga mata namin, he smiled widely.
"Colossians chapter one verse sixteen." sabay naming sabi and then we both chuckled.
"She's all out of her favorites, I'm amazed you can keep up." sabi ni Hazael kay Jathen tapos tumayo siya at nag-unat.
"Hindi ko na rin nga alam," Jathen chuckled and then leaned his back on the bean bag as we watched Hazael make his way back inside.
"Have a personal relationship with Him, Mad. That's how I started, I wasn't a big fan of churches before too, but I knew and accepted that I needed it, religion and church will not save you, it will not gonna bring you to heaven, but believing in Christ, and having intimate relationship with Him matters. Now, be careful, because even if going to church every Sunday will not bring you to heaven it doesn't mean you don't need it, we are all ignorance, and not biblical intelligence, warfare is real, and you need to know your Bible, you need to fight warfare and to know your savior, Church is important and one for the things that matter because you need people who will help you that is on the same walk with you."
