Upon their return, he realised Bianca had truly gone to school - she wasn't anywhere to be found. He was glad that was the case, but he was ready to simply not be there. He put down Athena's shopping and Elena called him over, he went over obediently.
"Hun, what happened?" She questioned and he didn't respond, "why weren't you here yesterday? Did something happen?" She frowned. It seemed she was going for the son route.
"I thought you broke off contact." He claimed and she shook her head,
"Of course not. You deserve to live in a place better than wherever you were living before." She chortled in slight amusement.
"I don't live there anymore," he shook his head, she tilted her head and smiled, thinking he was finally accepting his place in the penthouse, "I found somewhere else." He turned away. "You can call off the contract whenever you want, to add." He didn't want to see her face of shock.
"What!?" She blurted out, looking at his back profile,
"I found my-"
"I heard you but what!? Is that what you were doing yesterday?" She covered her mouth and he nodded. "Aren't you happy here?" She whispered.
"How can I be happy..." he let slip, she froze and so did he, "sorry," he apologised.
"Was it because of the night prior?" She whispered, "because I'm not apologising for what you did." She put her foot down.
"I wouldn't expect you to. So no." He began walking away. There he was again, accepting defeat before the satisfaction of victory could wash over his opponent.
"How was I ever supposed to be happy with your father if this is how he behaved?" She seethed and narrowed her eyes. From where she sat, she watched him pause briefly before leaving. He returned with the bag of food Athena insisted he had,
"Your daughter got you some food." He left it with her. She looked at the bag and then to him,
"I'm thankful," she couldn't hide her smile. He knew exactly what to do to make someone as simple-minded as his mother forget what was happening.
"I'll see to picking up your other child." He excused himself and she watched him leave. The reason his mother and father were happy was because they never fought in the first place, when they did, it never lasted long and always was a matter of miscommunication. Also, because the Elena that raised Kato was not the Elena that raised these children. Elena had a tongue sharper than her fangs in this world, and she would absolutely leave Kato out to bleed. She had, now three times over.
He ignored that though, as he had been. After all, it was partially always his fault. Had he not been so emotionally driven or so unclassy, then he wouldn't have been told what he had. In fact, when he looked at it the same way Soji would yell at him when he was training, it felt almost nostalgic. It wasn't the issue though, as he checked the time and made his way to the address Elena texted him. Bianca's school.
He stood out amongst the people. She went to a standard, all girl's school. Clearly private. To think her parents paid so much and she only decided to go once a week at most. At least it was close to the beginning of the year for her, so she could redeem herself. But as he thought that, he was also aware of how strange it was to have such a tall man amidst the otherwise tiny girls. He heard the school bell ring and continued to wait, they would take a while if they were cleaning. But she left early, talking to someone and giggling. Kato took note of the school uniform before he realised her friends were staring. Was he going to embarrass her? He crossed his arms and looked off to the side in hopes it would do something, but he felt her pull on his shirt,
