He didn't return for the next two days. Elena was worried. The worst entered her mind but never the thought he had left. She expressed her worry to Adonis who suggested she texted Soji or Sora. After all, the pair seemed to know Kato anyway. But she was apprehensive. If she treated him like a son, why was she so much more worried about him than she was of her own. Did that make her a bad mum? She was worried. She also wondered what was happening with the progress for Kato's father. The inkling that he had found him was festering like cancer. But no, he wouldn't have been here had he found his father. He would have moved on.
She felt bad, insisting on helping but finding herself so busy, she couldn't. But she felt her need was truly being diminished. Kato wasn't doing maths in his room anymore. Which meant that something had changed. Even his room felt less busy that it already seemed, she'd peek in and see it untouched. It felt like days since he slept in the room. But no, he just cleaned it as if he wasn't going to come back.
It was as if everything in the world was telling her he was going to leave, but he was returning and going against the rules of the universe. In a way; he was. But she didn't know that.
She mumbled and texted him in case it was just her worrying. But to her question, he never replied. He apparently read the message but he never offered an answer. Only left soon after. She'd give him some time, some time to come. It didn't feel out of his nature to simply lack a reply in text, but respond in person. Maybe he was just on his way to prove he was alright.
So she gave it an hour. She gave it two. She gave it three. Then by the fourth hour, she worried when her kids started asking. Bianca and Antonio had gone to school; Odele was with Adonis. Athena was the one that mentioned him.
"Hey mum? Where's the bodyguard?" She questioned, scrolling her emails and seeing a deal made with her manager, "oh, yum, a deal with an idol. Might do it. Why not?" She grinned at the sight of the man she enjoyed at the formal nearly just over a week ago.
"I don't know." She frowned, "is he okay? Last time he vanished it turned out he fainted and refused to speak about it. I worry." She mumbled and looked at the messages.
"You worry for him like he's your kid." She hummed, "son-in-law?" She teased. Elena laughed in pure doubt,
"Not only do I think he's incapable of loving. I also think none of you stand a chance. Bianca more likely. She was so happy after the formal." Elena recalled.
"Yeah what had her so happy? Where'd she get that chain from?" Athena muttered. The girl hadn't taken off the chain since the formal. Only when she was bathing would it come off. And she played with it whenever something was on her mind. They wanted to assume it was the same thing each time.
"Oh, he got her that dress she wore... and the chain. Cute isn't it? He basically dressed her up for the formal. And she was happy about it." Elena giggled,
"What? Oh right she had an outfit change. Wait what? He got her that? He as in your bodyguard?" She wanted to confirm. Elena nodded. Athena was jealous! It was a strange feeling for her since she hadn't felt it before. But she was jealous of her sister, she couldn't deny that. It was still just a strange feeling though. "Lucky!? I didn't know he was so good with all of that!" She muttered, she was jealous but also, she was still holding a grudge on him. She wanted to stop that though.
"Me neither." Elena shrugged. Though she assumed that if she was still a model of sorts in Kato's world, then he naturally would.
"But then where is he?" She looked around as if he would appear there.
"I think we should visit Soji." She frowned and bit her lip.
"Alright." Athena stood up while looking at the offer with the idol. She'd get back to it later.
