"Wait a minute, what's wrong with you? Why are you pulling me like that?"

I saw Lucas walking past us, shooting me a murderous glare before disappearing.

"What happened? Tell me!" Mia nudged me.

"I swear he's going to kill me," I said, looking at her.

"Not a great start for the first day."

"Tell me about it."

"Let's get out of here!"

We each took our books home and planned to meet at the café later.

Before I left, I went to my room and changed into jeans, swapping out my leggings.

I left the house and walked towards the cafe...

Guess who I saw there? That's right! What a wonderful turn of events in one day.

I went inside, wanting to order something to drink.

"Good morning!" said the guy working at the café.

"Good morning! I'll have two iced chocolates, please."

"Coming right up! That'll be €4."

I handed over the money and stepped aside for the next customer.

It was a tall, cute guy, I must say. He placed his order...

"€7."

He checked his wallet, pulling out a €5 bill while searching for the remaining €2.

"Fuck," he muttered.

I glanced at him and pulled out €2 from my pocket, handing it to him with a smile.

"Thank you!" he said, smiling back.

"Are you ready?" I grabbed the iced chocolates just as Mia arrived.

I sat at a table, and Mia joined me.

"You got here pretty quickly!"

"Yeah, I know."

"Here's a little something to pay you back for the coffee you got me this morning."

"It wasn't necessary."

"Forget about that!"

Suddenly, someone slammed our table with force, making us jump in fear.

I looked up and saw him...

What does he want from me now? Damn it. He glared at me angrily.

"You don't need to pay for my coffee!" he shouted.

I stared at him, confused.

What? When did I pay for his coffee? I glanced at his friends and saw the guy I just helped, laughing and waving mockingly.

"When I'm talking to you, you should be looking at me!" he yelled, and I met his gaze.

"I didn't know," I replied.

"Stop with the nonsense! What's your intention? Trying to be around me?"

I looked at him, thinking he had a high opinion of himself.

"Let's go, Mia!" I said, standing up from the table.

"YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" he bellowed, now seemingly furious. He grabbed my wrist and slammed me against the wall with force.

Pain flashed in my eyes and voice.

I looked at him as my back ached and my wrist throbbed.

Everyone at the table stood up and stared at us. Mia was frozen in shock, unable to act.

"ENOUGH!!!" she yelled, looking at him.

"From now on, you'll see me and change sides! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" he shouted while I couldn't even speak from fear.

"If you don't want trouble with me, don't show up in my space," he told me, releasing my hand.

He walked away, and I held my wrist, looking at his friends, who seemed to enjoy the spectacle.

I gave them one last glare before leaving.

Mia followed me, calling my name.

"Emma, wait!"

I stopped, looking at her, ready to cry. I couldn't believe I'd been humiliated again, especially in a café with no one to stop it.

"Are you okay?" she asked, hugging me.

I shook my head negatively.

"What did you do to him for him, to treat you like that?"

"I really don't know."

"I'm going home."

"Do you want me to come with you?"

"No, I'll be okay."

I understood she wanted to support me, but when I'm upset, I prefer to be alone. As my best friend, she knew that deep down I wanted this and didn't pressure me.

"Alright, just call me."

I walked home, entering the house and sitting on the couch.

"WHY THE HELL?!" I yelled, hitting a pillow with my hands, as tears streamed down my face. "WHY IS EVERYTHING GOING SO WRONG?!"

After a few minutes, I tried to calm down. I headed to my bed and lay down.

I decided to call Mia since she asked me to.

"What are you doing, babe? How are you?"

"Better."

"Don't worry about me. I just don't pay him any mind. It was a mistake to respond to him."

"Big mistake."

"It's fine, just ignore him now."

"Yeah..."

"Come on, don't be like that, I want you to be happy..."

"I'll try. I have to hang up, I think I heard the door opening. I think my aunt is here. Talk to you tomorrow!"

I hung up and headed to the living room.

"Aunt?"

"I'm here, sweetheart," she said with a smile.

"How was your first day?" she asked, and I started to feel anxious. I didn't want to tell her anything.

"Good," I replied, forcing a smile.

I went to pick up the bag with my books, but pain shot through my wrist, and I winced.

My aunt looked at me, alarmed, and approached.

"What happened?"
