I go up to my room and see her sleeping. I look at her and pull the blanket over her.

She curls up and pulls the duvet even higher.

I sit down next to her and wait for her to wake up. After a few minutes, I head down to the kitchen to make some chamomile tea for her.

When I go back up, I see her slowly waking up.

I could be a fortune-teller...

She looks at me, sitting grumpily on the bed.

"Well, well, look who's finally awake, sleepyhead."

She gives me a faint smile and looks at me.

"Here," I say, handing her the cup. She looks at me with a strange expression.

"Chamomile tea."

She takes it and just holds it, not drinking it.

"I gave it to you to drink, not to stare at, Emma."

She looks at me with a sad expression and then finally starts to drink it.

After she finishes, she lies back down and wraps herself up in the blankets. I lift the duvet, and she looks at me like she's ready to kill me.

I laugh at her expression, and she shoots me a deadly glare.

"You're going to suffocate under there."

"It's warm," she says, and I just look at her.

The door opens, and my mom comes in.

"Emma, your aunt left the keys here and left."

"Great, thanks," Emma says softly, and my mom smiles.

"Lucas, take the girl home, it's still raining," my mom says.

"Alright."

The door closes, and Emma looks at me.

"Put your shoes on, let's go," I tell her, and she gets up from the bed.

She puts her shoes on and looks at me.

"All set?"

She nods, and we walk out of my room.

We say goodbye to my mom, I grab her house keys, and we run to the car to avoid getting soaked.

"You okay?" I ask, and she nods.

I start the car, and after a while, we arrive at her house. I hand her the keys, and she looks at me before taking them.

"Are you coming in, or are you leaving?"

"For a bit," I reply.

We get out of the car and run to her front door. She opens it, and we head inside.

The scent of her house hits me instantly, and I can't help but enjoy it.

"You should go take a hot shower and then lie down," I suggest.

"I'll go now," she says.

"Are you going to wait or leave?" she asks, looking at me.

I shrug, and she looks at me again.

"I have an idea," she says with a grin.

"I'll take a shower, and then we can watch a movie, but on separate couches. I'd invite you to my bed, but... I'm sick, and I don't want to get you sick," she says quickly, making me laugh.

"Calm down, breathe. First, you won't get me sick—it's just a cold. Second, we'll watch from the bed because you're sick, and you need to stay warm. Got it?" I tell her firmly.

She lets out a deep breath and looks at me.

"Whatever you say, Lucas," she says with a serious tone, and we both laugh.

We head to her room, and I sit on the bed while I pick a movie. She goes off to take her shower.

I choose a simple action movie and wait for her to come out.

I'm on my phone when she steps out in her pajamas, looking like a little teddy bear.

I laugh, looking her up and down.

"Hey, stop!" she says, giving me a serious look.

"Alright, alright, I'm stopping," I say with a grin.

"What movie did you pick?"

"Action."

"Nice," she says and lies down next to me. I place the laptop on my legs as she leans her head slightly against my chest.

"I don't bite, get more comfortable, or your neck will cramp up," I say. She listens and settles her head on me properly.

I start the movie, and we watch it together. A little while later, I notice her relaxing.

I look at her face, and she's already asleep on me.

I pause the movie and carefully close the laptop without waking her. I adjust the blanket over her.

She snuggles closer to me, and I just look at her.

I was supposed to leave by now, so why am I still sitting here?

"^What's the problem? It's not like you mind.^"
"^Just admit it—you want to stay with her.^"

Where did you come from?

I look at her and don't move. I shift her a little to make sure she's comfortable, so I don't get stiff too.

After a bit, I see she's in a deep sleep. I carefully slide out from under her and lay her down on the bed.

I grab her phone and notice that she still has me blocked. I unblock myself and put her phone back.

I smile, then quietly leave her room, closing the door behind me without making a sound.

I head to the living room, put my shoes on, and leave.
