**POV Lucas**

I kissed her...

Why? I can't understand myself...

She gets off me, looking away, clearly uncomfortable...

I don't really know what I just did.

"Maybe we should leave?" she asks, looking at me awkwardly.

"Yeah, let's go," I reply, and we start walking toward the parking lot.

"Why did you do that?" she asks, but without looking at me. It always annoys me when she talks to me but doesn't make eye contact.

"I don't know," I answer, opening the car door and getting in. She hesitates outside for a moment before getting in as well.

**POV Emma**

What does he mean, he doesn't know? There's always a reason for everything you do!

I get into the car, settle into my seat, and stare out the window.

He starts the car. For a while, I don't pay attention. Then, suddenly, the car comes to a stop as he pulls over to the side. He looks at me, and I stare back, startled.

He leans toward me, and I instinctively move back. But instead of what I expected, he reaches for the seatbelt and clicks it into place.

I give him a strange look and settle back in my seat, turning my gaze once more to the window.

It starts to rain. I continue to watch the raindrops fall. It's so peaceful. I've always loved the sound of rain—it relaxes me.

I can feel his eyes on me, but I ignore it and keep looking outside.

"Do you like the rain?" he asks, and I turn to him.

"Yeah, it relaxes me," I reply, and he smiles.

"You're not the only one," he says, and I smile faintly.

I don't know why, but I can still feel his lips on mine, as if he's kissing me again. I glance at him, swallow hard, and turn my gaze back out the window.

"We'll be at your place soon."

"Finally, I'm so tired," I say, and he looks at me.

It was around 2:30 AM.

"We're here."

"Thanks for tonight," I say as I reach for the car door to step out. He gets out too, and I give him a puzzled look.

The rain starts to soak us as we stand there.

"I'm not letting you go up alone," he says loudly so I can hear him over the rain.

"You don't have to," I tell him, but he just looks at me.

"Let's go, or we'll get soaked," he insists, and we start walking.

I rummage through my bag for my keys and realize I can't find them.

"Lucas, please tell me I didn't forget my keys," I say, panicking.

"I don't know," he responds, looking at me.

"Shit!" I yell.

"Don't you have a spare?" he asks.

"No! My aunt has the other one, but it's almost 3 AM. I can't go now!" I exclaim.

"Come with me," he offers.

"No, I'll call Mia," I reply, and he just looks at me.

"Mia's definitely asleep, Emma," he says.

"One call," I insist. He nods.

I call Mia about five times, but there's no answer. She's definitely sleeping.

"Come on, Emma," Lucas says, and I look at him.

"Fine," I sigh.

We run back to the car and jump in. My body shivers, and Lucas hands me his jacket, looking at me with concern.

He starts the engine, and after a while, we arrive at his place.

We get out of the car and rush inside. He opens the door, and I step in, followed closely by him.

My whole body is shaking from the cold, and Lucas watches me.

"I'll get you something dry to wear; you'll freeze like that," he says, rushing up the stairs.

I nod in agreement. A couple of minutes later, he calls my name.

I go upstairs and open a door.

"Here, put these on," he says, handing me a pair of sweatpants and a shirt.

I look at him, noticing he's shirtless. I try to keep calm, taking the clothes from him.

"Where's the bathroom?" I ask.

"Right behind you," he replies, and I quickly head inside.

I take off my wet clothes and put on what he gave me. They're a bit big, but at least they're warm.

I walk out of the bathroom to find him sitting on the bed, scrolling through his phone. He looks up at me and laughs.

"A bit big, huh?"

"It's fine," I smile.

"Are you going to sleep?" he asks.

"Am I sleeping with you?"

"Don't worry, I won't try anything," he says, looking at me with a hint of amusement.

"It's not that," I begin.

"Then what? You still don't trust me?" he asks, meeting my gaze.

I hesitate. Do I trust him? I'm not sure.

"I promise, I won't do anything," he assures me, and I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.

"Alright," I say, and he moves over to give me space on the bed.

I lift the blanket and lie down beside him. He looks at me and smiles.

He returns to his phone, scrolling through Instagram. I close my eyes, trying to drift off to sleep, adjusting myself comfortably.

After a while, he puts his phone down and lies back, settling in for the night.

I turn my back to him, trying to find a comfortable position, and close my eyes.

I feel him shift closer to me.

"Lucas?" I whisper.

"If I don't move closer, I'm going to fall off," he jokes, and I scoot over a little to give him more space.

His laugh fills the room.

"Don't be scared," he whispers in my ear. I feel his hands wrap around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

To be honest, it's actually pretty comfortable now.
