The door to Lucas' room knocked as his mom asked if everything was okay inside.

Lucas sighed in frustration, got up from on top of me, and opened the door.

I didn't even have time to get up from the bed when his mom walked in. She looked at both of us and smiled.

"What's going on here?" she asked, her smile practically stretching to the ceiling.

I was about to say something, but Lucas cut me off.

"Something, until you interrupted us."

"LUCAS!!!"
"Nothing was happening!" I said quickly, shooting him a look.

His mom just laughed.
"Well, I'll leave you two. I need to get to work. Please don't wreck the house while I'm gone," she teased, still smiling.

I tried to get up from the bed, but Lucas immediately locked the door again and climbed back on top of me.

"Where do you think you're going?" he asked, staring down at me.

"Anywhere but here with you," I snapped, trying to push him off, but he was much stronger than me, and I couldn't budge him.

"You know you can't escape, right? Doesn't seem like you mind though."

"I mind a lot," I retorted, glaring at him.

"Prove it," he said, looking into my eyes.

I was about to answer when he suddenly pressed his lips against mine, one hand cupping my cheek, completely controlling the kiss.

I tried to push him away, and for a moment I succeeded, but he grabbed my neck and kissed me again.

I wasn't sure how he did it, but he completely immobilized me. I gave in to the kiss.

When he finally stopped, I slapped him.
"Don't ever do that again!"

"You liked it."

"Maybe the opposite, but I know you definitely did," I shot back.

"You'll see," he smirked, winking at me.

I moved to open the door, but the key was missing.
"Where's the key, Lucas?"

"You expect me to tell you?"

"Yes!"

"Wrong answer, sweetheart."

"You're being annoying."

He raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"Oh, you think I'm annoying?, so do you!"

"I do.How am I annoying?"

He just smiled, biting his lip before pulling the key out of his pocket and tossing it to me.

"Weirdo," I muttered under my breath.

I shot him one last look and left his room, heading to the living room and sitting down with my phone. Since I didn't know my way around the house, I couldn't really do much else.

I wandered into the kitchen and noticed a door leading outside. I opened it and found a garden. I strolled around a bit, enjoying the view before sitting down.

My phone rang. It was Mia—she'd already heard everything and called me right away.

× "Hey, Mia."
× "What's going on? Why aren't you home?"
× "Repairs are being done at my house, so I had to leave."
× "And you had to go to Lucas' house??"
× "My aunt insisted."
× "Believe me, this is the last place I'd want to stay, especially for two weeks."
× "Wait, two weeks?"
× "Apparently..."
× "How's it going so far?"
× "We fought a little, then he kissed me, and after that, he kept making these weird remarks that I don't even understand."
× "Girl, don't fall for him."
× "I'm trying not to."
× "Wait, what do you mean? Emma, what do you feel for him?"
× "I'd be lying if I said I feel nothing. But I'm really confused. Everything is so mixed up."
× "What about when he kisses you? How do you feel then?"
× "Weird, like a wave rushing through my body."
× "That's it?"

"Emma?"
I heard Lucas' voice behind me. I turned to look at him, feeling awkward, hoping he didn't hear the conversation.

× "Mia, I'll talk to you later."
× "Please tell me he didn't hear."
× "I don't know. We'll talk soon."

I hung up and stared at him.
"You didn't hear anything, did you?" I asked nervously, fiddling with my fingers.

"I just got here," he said, smiling as he leaned against the doorframe, watching me.

I looked away, trying to think of something to say to make things less awkward.
"Did you need something?"

"Are you hungry? I'm thinking of ordering something."

"Uh, yeah."

"Burger? or Pizza?" he asked, coming closer.

"Burger," I shrugged.

"Great. Let's go inside—it's getting chilly." He grabbed my hand, and we went back into the house.

I sat on the couch, still trying to process the fact that he'd held my hand.

He picked up the landline phone and dialed the number.

"How do you want it?" he asked.

"Chickenburger, fries, and sauce," I replied.

He winked at me before asking, "Coke?"

I nodded, and he placed the order before hanging up.

I got up, grabbed my wallet, and took out five euros, heading towards him.

I handed him the money, and he stared at me like I was crazy.
"For what?" he asked.

"For the burger."

He rolled his eyes, looking at me with a grin.
"I'm treating you, little one," he said, laughing.

"No, I'd rather pay for my own."

"Come on, it's not a big deal."

"I just don't feel comfortable," I insisted.

"Fine," he sighed, taking the money and putting it in his pocket.
I smiled and sat back on the couch.
