Kat stumbled forward as she pushed through the laps, her legs feeling like jelly after the first 20. Sweat poured down her face as she panted heavily.

"1... 2... 3... 4... 9... 10... 15... uff uff... 20... 25... uff uff... 30...," she wheezed, her pace slowing as her legs threatened to give out. Her breath came in short gasps. "Why... did I... think... 50 laps... was... okay?"

By the time she hit 40, she was barely jogging.

"41... 42... oh no, I'm dying... 43..."

From the common room window, Levi watched with his usual straight-faced expression. He sipped his tea, his eyes tracking Kat's increasingly slow pace around the training grounds.

She's not strong... he thought, watching her stumble through another lap, but she doesn't mind trying.

He took another sip, his brow furrowing ever so slightly as his mind drifted back to the fight. She's quick too... and those weren't random moves. They were planned.

Levi narrowed his eyes as he considered her. She might not have the brute strength that most soldiers needed, but her cleverness had surprised him. Maybe... he thought, if I train her right... she should do well... right?

He put his cup down on the table, his fingers tapping it lightly. But there's another problem... Sooner or later, she'll start poking around the Military Cops to clear her father's name. Levi's face tightened. And when she does, she'll eventually find her way to Kenny.

The thought of Kenny, and what that would mean for Kat, made him tsk under his breath.

Will she be able to handle him? Levi clenched his jaw. Is this worth a suicide mission? Tsk, of all people, Erwin had to leave her under my supervision. Great. Just great. He thinks in an annoyed way.

He watched her wobble through the final few laps, his mind a storm of thoughts. Kat was proving to be more trouble than expected, and this was only day one.

Meanwhile, outside, Kat was on her last legs. She'd barely completed her 50th lap when her body finally gave out. Collapsing on the ground like a sack of potatoes, she couldn't even muster the strength to turn herself over. She lay there, face-down, breathing heavily, wondering if this was how it would all end. Death by laps, she thought. Great... that's an embarrassing way to go.

Just as she started to seriously contemplate crawling to the nearest patch of shade, she heard a voice.

"Hehehe, Kat, you doing good there?"

Her ears perked up, and she slowly rolled her head to the side to see none other than Gunther. "Senpai!" she gasped with glee, though the effort of speaking nearly took her out.

Gunther crouched down to her level, balancing a tray of food in his hands. "Brought you something," he said, setting the tray in front of her.

Kat's eyes widened, and she sniffed the air like a starving wolf. A tray full of delicious, steaming food sat inches away from her, but Levi's earlier words rang in her head. No lunch if you lose.
