Next day: The tension in the camp was suffocating. Every glance in Kat's direction was tinged with suspicion. Levi hadn't spoken to her beyond cold, clipped orders since the previous day, and the weight of his silence was unbearable.

Morning training had begun, and the new recruits — Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Sasha, and Connie — lined up for drills. Kat stood at the end of the line, trying to stay focused, though her thoughts kept spiraling.

"Burnedead," Levi's voice snapped, dragging her attention back. "You're out of formation. Again."

Kat flinched, quickly adjusting her stance. "Sorry, Heichou..."

"Sorry doesn't cut it," Levi growled, his voice cutting through the morning air. "Pathetic. After all this time, I was dumb to think you'd have learned something by now."

Jean snickered under his breath, while Eren shot Kat a quick glance — sympathetic, but also wary. Mikasa remained stone-faced, but Kat could feel the judgment from everyone around her.

Levi's cold gaze lingered on her, and for a brief moment, their eyes met. There was nothing but disdain in his expression. The bond they once shared, the trust they had built, was all but a memory now. And it was killing her.

"Do it again," Levi ordered, stepping back and crossing his arms over his chest.

Kat swallowed hard and fell back into position, her movements stiff. She could feel their eyes on her — the recruits, Levi, all of them watching, waiting for her to mess up again. And, of course, she did.

"Pathetic," Levi muttered, loud enough for everyone to hear. "This is who we're trusting on the battlefield? Someone who freezes under pressure?"

Her heart dropped. The murmurs started, the whispers that had followed her since the accusations. She could see Sasha and Connie eyes on her, and even Eren, who usually defended her, said nothing.

"Heichou..." Kat's voice wavered, desperate to explain, to make him understand. But he cut her off before she could even start.

"Save it," Levi spat, his gaze hardening. "You should've saved them out there. Instead, you hesitated. You froze. That's all there is to it."

Kat felt her throat tighten, and her hands clenched into fists. "I didn't want to freeze... I—"

"You should've thought about that before leading my squad to their deaths," Levi interrupted coldly.

The words hit her like a punch to the gut, and she bit down hard on her lip, holding back the tears that threatened to spill. She wouldn't break. Not in front of them.

Eren shifted awkwardly, stepping forward as if to say something, but Levi's glare stopped him in his tracks. "Get back in formation, Jaeger. We're not done."

Kat did as she was told, trying to focus on the drills. But her thoughts were racing. She could feel Levi's eyes on her, burning into her back, watching every move she made. She was nothing to him now, just a disappointment. A liability.

After what felt like an eternity, Levi finally called for a break. The recruits dispersed, chattering among themselves. Kat remained where she stood, staring down at her hands, wondering how things had gone so horribly wrong.

Then, a shadow shifted on the edge of her vision. She looked up, her heart skipping a beat.

There, half-hidden behind the barracks, was Kenny.

Her breath caught in her throat. She hadn't seen him since that morning before the expedition — since he'd warned her not to participate in the trap, or Levi would die. And now, here he was, watching her. His eyes gleamed with a dark, knowing smirk, as if he was enjoying every second of the torment she was going through.

"Kat!"

Levi's voice snapped her back to reality, and she turned to see him glaring at her. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Nothing, I..." she stammered, quickly turning away from where Kenny had been standing. "I wasn't—"

"Focus," Levi growled, stepping closer. "You can't even handle simple drills. What makes you think I'd ever trust you again out there?"

"I—" Kat's throat was dry. She wanted to scream, but the words wouldn't come out.

Levi's eyes narrowed. "You think this is some kind of game? My squad is dead because of you."

Kat flinched. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen."

"But it did." His voice was cold, cutting. "You hesitated when it mattered most. Now, we're all paying for it."

"Heichou... please." Her voice cracked. "If you'd just let me explain—"

"You expect me to believe out of nowhere Kenny finds interest in you?" he said finally, his voice low and dangerous. "After telling you everything about my past, this is how you try to cover it up, saying it's because of him?"

"I—" Kat's voice trembled. "It's the truth. I thought I was protecting you."

Levi's jaw tightened. "You should've told me the truth then, after being caught even a traitor tells false information and calls it the truth."

"I didn't want to lose you," she whispered, the words slipping out before she could stop them.

Levi's eyes flickered with something — anger, pain, or maybe something else. But it vanished as quickly as it came, replaced by the cold, detached mask he always wore now.

"You already have," he muttered, turning away.

Kat felt her heart shatter. The words hung in the air, heavy and final. Levi didn't trust her. Maybe he never would again. And Kenny... Kenny was still out there, lurking in the shadows, pulling strings she couldn't even see.

As Levi walked away, Kat stood frozen, staring after him. The weight of everything — the accusations, the guilt, the betrayal — pressed down on her shoulders, threatening to crush her.

She had to find a way to fix this. To prove to Levi that she wasn't the traitor he believed her to be. She was his loyal student. But with every passing day, that seemed less and less possible.

And somewhere in the darkness, Kenny was watching....Waiting.....for the right moment to strike!
