The moon hung low over the Scout headquarters, casting long shadows that stretched like ghostly fingers across the stone walls. Inside, the air was tense, quieter than usual. Kat could feel it—the calm before the storm. She'd been uneasy all evening, unable to shake the feeling that something was about to go horribly wrong.

And it wasn't just the unease. Kenny's name had been floating around the corridors, whispers of his manipulation slowly coming to light, but not fast enough to stop him. Kat knew he was planning something, but what? And when?

Levi had been unusually distant, though that wasn't a surprise anymore, but tonight... tonight it bothered her more than usual. Maybe because she felt so alone in this fight.

She glanced out the window of the Scout barracks, her eyes tracing the skyline of the city. The stars blinked innocently above, mocking her with their serenity.

"Something's off," she muttered to herself, rubbing her arms against the chill. Just as she turned away from the window, a soft knock sounded at the door.

"Kat senpai" It was Jean, his voice low. "We've got a problem. A big one."

Her heart dropped. "What's going on?"

"There's been movement outside the walls. Unusual. Some of the Scouts think it's nothing, but... I don't know. Feels like an ambush," Jean explained, glancing over his shoulder as if expecting someone to jump out of the shadows.

"Who's leading the charge?"

"Levi Heichou ordered us to prepare. He thinks Kenny's involved."

Kat's stomach twisted. Kenny. Of course. "I'll gear up. Where is Heichou?"

"Outside, with the others. He didn't want you coming along, but..." Jean hesitated.

Kat interrupted, determination flaring in her chest. "If this is Kenny's doing, I'm not staying behind."

Jean gave a tight nod, understanding flashing in his eyes. "Hurry. It's starting soon."

The sound of metal clashing with metal, and the distinct thud of boots on cobblestone, filled the night as Kat arrived at the courtyard. Scouts were already assembling, their faces grim. She spotted Levi at the far end, issuing commands with sharp, efficient movements. His posture was tense, his usual calm demeanor a mask for the battle about to erupt.

"Heichou," Kat called, striding over.

Levi didn't look at her at first, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "You're not supposed to be here, Burnedead."

"Well, I'm here anyway," Kat said, her voice hard. "This is my fight too."

Finally, Levi turned his head slightly, just enough to catch her in his sight. "I don't have time to babysit you tonight. Stay out of the way."

"I'm not a child," Kat snapped, her eyes narrowing. "I can handle myself."

Levi's eyes flickered, a flash of something unreadable crossing his face before he turned away. "Do what you want. Just don't get killed."

Suddenly, the gates to the headquarters were flung open. Scouts gasped as dark figures rushed into the courtyard. Kenny's men. They were here too.

The first shots rang out, cutting through the night with deadly precision.
