The squad trudged back inside the walls, the sense of relief only momentary as the weight of exhaustion settled over them. Their mission had been completed, but the strain of battle still lingered. Blood and dirt stained their uniforms, and their breaths came in shallow gasps.

As they passed through the gates, a scout hurried towards Levi, his posture straight and voice steady despite the urgency in his tone.

"Levi Heichou, Erwin Tanchou has called for you," the scout reported, his eyes flicking briefly to the squad before focusing back on Levi.

Levi's gaze scanned his team—bruised, battered, but still standing. He nodded slightly at the scout before addressing his squad with his usual stern tone.

"Everyone, head back. Rest up and tend to your wounds," he commanded.

The group nodded in unison, grateful for the order. They had survived the mission, but they all knew the rest would be short-lived. Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, and the others began to make their way toward the barracks, their bodies aching with fatigue.

Just as Levi was about to turn and leave, he stopped. His eyes briefly met Kat's, a flicker of something unreadable in his gaze. Then, with his usual cold precision, he spoke again.

"Kat, you lead until I return."

"Yes, Heichou," Kat replied, her voice steady despite the shock.

Levi gave a short nod, turning on his heel and heading toward the commander's quarters. His cape fluttered behind him, disappearing into the distance. The squad stood in silence for a few seconds longer, the impact of his words still sinking in.

Inside the commander's quarters, a tense atmosphere permeated the room as Levi stepped through the door. He found Erwin seated at the head of the long table, flanked by several senior military officials and politically involved members, their expressions serious.

"Erwin," Levi acknowledged, keeping his tone neutral.

"Come in," Erwin gestured, his voice calm but carrying an underlying gravity.

As Levi entered, he felt the weight of their collective gaze. The tension in the room was palpable, and it didn't take long for Levi to grasp the severity of the situation. He straightened his posture, instinctively bracing himself for what was to come.

"What is the matter?" Levi asked, his voice stern as he scanned the room for clues.

"Levi," Erwin began, maintaining a calm demeanor, "the assembled members present here have raised concerns regarding Kat. They want me to assign you to spy on her."

Levi tensed slightly, a flicker of irritation crossing his features. "What do you mean by 'spy'? You want me to follow her? Track her movements?"

A smirk formed on his lips, dismissing the notion. "Kat is practically in front of me at all times. There's no need for spying."
