Episode 28: Wave of Betrayal, Prelude

(Y/N): Okay, have we made up yet?

Motoyasu: He started it!

Itsuki: Your the asshole that started this!

(Y/N): ENOUGH!! If you both want another beating then you better make up.

I look down at the two as their both on the ground. We've made almost little to no preparations to the next wave.

(Y/N): Make up. Now!

Motoyasu & Itsuki: ....Sorry.

(Y/N): And do you mean it?

Motoyasu & Itsuki: ...Yeah...

(Y/N): Good...Now then, we have actual business to do.

I walk away from them and look to all of our party members sitting and having their own discussions with Malty taking the lead. Along with our new guest as well.

Naofumi: Is it embarrassing that we had to see that?

Ren: No. They deserve it.

(Y/N): Now that all of that is out of the way, Naofumi...

The guy flinched a bit before looking my way.

(Y/N): It's good to finally have you in board.

Naofumi: Uhh...Yeah. Even after everything.

(Y/N): To be honest, I still don't forgive you, but I can put that aside as we need to work together.

Naofumi: Just a quick question. Being in a party makes us weaker right? So, wouldn't we be weaker going into the waves like this?

Ren: Hibiki had the perfect idea. If we're not all in one party, then we aren't weaker. Meaning, we're at full power.

Itsuki: Plus, having (Y/N) here makes us even stronger.

(Y/N): Yeah, from what I've been told, my resonance with the first hero actually makes you guys stronger. So your main stat gets doubled.

Motoyasu: Which is my strength.

Itsuki: My draw speed gets faster.

Ren: I'm able to use my sword enhancements without using my MP.

Naofumi: Then I guess all it does for me is make my shield stronger.

He looked down at his shield with hate in his eyes.

(Y/N): Even so, having you is better then not. Especially after what happened last time.

Itsuki: Yeah...Last time...

I put a hand on his shoulder. Naofumi looked at him with question before he simply nods.

Naofumi: Right. I get it. So, what's first?

(Y/N): First is trying to see where we're being thrown next. Ren, any ideas?

Ren: Sadly, I don't. In my time on Aincrad, I didn't get any information.

(Y/N): I figured. Guess not everything is going to be handed to us. Well, we can work it out once we're there. But, we should set up a formation beforehand. That way we're more coordinated.

Ren: We should do what we did last time. But with your new powers, it would work a lot better. And, we have Naofumi here.

Itsuki: Naofumi and Ren can take the front. I'll be in the back. Hibiki and Motoyasu can take a stance in the middle.

Naofumi: Would this work without knowing the area we'll be summoned to?

Ren: We'll all be looking at someone's back, so it'll be fine.

Naofumi: Alright...Yeah, I get it.

(Y/N): Now, what's all the enemies you guys have fought? I haven't been out in the fields too much myself.

Itsuki: I can help with that. I've made sure to keep track through the encyclopedia.

(Y/N): Awesome. Mind showing us what you found?

Ray: Wow Okita! Your so tall now!

Okita: Thank you Ray. I have been training alot with Master since the last wave.

Ray: That means we can do some spring too! Can we?

Okita: Malty, would that be alright?

Malty: Sure. Just don't get too rough with her.

Ray quickly grabbed her scissors and runs a bit away. Okita grabbed her dagger before following.

After the two walk away, I look to Suzy as she's sitting down with a book on her lap. I walked over and crouch down beside her.

Malty: Reading something new?

Suzy: For once. Motoyasu finally got me something interesting.

Malty: What's this? A new spellbook?

Suzy: Somewhat. We found it in a dungeon. I'm trying to decipher it to see if it's useful at all. It might just be nonsense.

Malty: Still, it might be useful somewhat. Mind if I can see it once your finished?

Suzy: Sure, I guess. I won't have any use for it afterwards anyway. Now do you mind? You broke my concentration.

Malty: R-right. Sorry.

I stood and walked away from her. I went back beside Shirabe as she looked up at me.

Malty: Anything?

Shirabe: Would you believe me if I said yes?

Malty: I'd think your lying if you didn't.

Shirabe: Good...Then I don't.

Malty: Really?

Shirabe: Yes. Unfortunately...

She stands up and sighs.

Shirabe: I can't tell where it even is. Which doesn't make sense.

Tsubasa: The heroes can't track them like they could last time?

Shirabe: You and I both know that if we can't sense it, then neither can they.

Tsubasa: It still doesn't make sense to me.

Shirabe: Neither does it to me. But, we have to use the hand we're dealt.

I let out a sigh as I think. I don't know what we would even be up against. And we need a plan.

I look over to the heroes as they seem to still be talking. I sigh when suddenly she sky starts to turn red.

Malty: Time is running out.

(Y/N): And we're ready.

I looked back as I heard her speak. She stood Infront of the other heroes as she had a smile on her face.

Shirabe: Remove that smile. I do not accept failure.

Tsubasa: Neither do I. I expect nothing less from a legendary hero.

(Y/N): We got this.

Motoyasu: Yeah! Just watch, we got this under control.

Tsubasa: I will be the judge of that.

Ren: We should do any final preparations before we leave.

Shirabe: The town has everything you heroes could need.

Malty: And I have a quick way to teleport you to the forge if you need upgrades.

(Y/N): Let's do it quickly everyone. It's almost time.
