39| Last step

The two soulmates woke up in the embrace of each other. Upon realizing their position, Yewon quickly stepped back, the sudden move made her fall from the bed, pulling the blanket and Jaehyun —who still had an arm around her waist — with her.

The boy was on top of her, his arms on each side of her head.

They made eye contact for a few seconds and Yewon suddenly coughed and averted her eyes.

—Uh... Hi?—. She didn't know what to say and it was obvious.
The boy laughed and tilted his head to the side—. Hi, Kim Yewon —. His voice sent her butterflies in her stomach and an electric feeling, though she wasn't sure —. I didn't know that we were going to meet like this.

Yewon coughed again and gently pushed him away, but he didn't move.

—I won't move until you tell me what happened —He said.
She pouted—. I'll tell you, but please, move. What if your mother sees us like thi...— She got cut by a peck on her lips, which made her widen her eyes.
—So what? What's wrong if someone sees us? —. He asked.
—I...
—It's ok. Everything is alright. Nothing will happen if they see us, even if they don't, I'm sure that we have bonded and they probably saw it. Besides...they'll know anyway.

Yewon nodded and pushed him again, this time, she managed to move her soulmate and she sat on the cold floor.

The boy was right. What was wrong if someone saw them like that? Of course, their position from just a few seconds ago was strange and if someone suddenly entered, there would be a misunderstanding, besides...their parents would know anyway, so...what's the point of hiding?

—Alright—. She sighed in defeat —. Do you want to know what happened and my reasons to avoid you? Ok, let me tell you.

Jaehyun sat on the floor as well and held her hand, his brown orbs looked at hers softly and lovely.

—After we kissed...I felt flustered and I didn't know what to do, so I left. During these two weeks, I tried to avoid you, which I succeeded.— She joked and turned serious again —. I couldn't face you so I avoided you, ignoring fate and our strings.
—Our bond—. He corrected her —. It's our bond that pulls us to each other and makes us suffer at the same time.
Yewon rolled her eyes and mumbled something —. So...that's it. I'm sorry for making you suffer, I was stubborn and immature, I was also selfish as I thought about myself and didn't think about how you felt.... Oh, and also for almost di...
—That's enough —. Jaehyun cut her, chuckling —. Stop apologizing, ok? I get it. I have already forgiven you.

Yewon nodded, and for some reason, this small action of her seemed cute to him.

—Let's go somewhere —. The boy said, standing up.

He stretched his hand out for her to take it, she pushed his hand away and stood up by herself. Jaehyun averted his eyes and scratched the back of his neck, uncomfortable. Yewon let out a soft chuckle at the latter's flustered state, as she felt his disappointment through their bond, she held the taller shoulders and tiptoed to give him a peck on his cheek.

He pouted—. Is that all?
—What do you mean?—. She furrowed her eyebrows.
—I mean...aren't you gonna kiss me?
—I have done it.—She said.
—No.
—Yes.
—No.
—Yes.
—Yes.—She repeated—. No!— Yewon said, groaning upon realizing that she had fallen in his trap.

The boy laughed and pecked her lips.

—Thanks.
—For what?
—For giving me the honor of giving you a peck your sweet and soft lips—. He replied, lightly bowing down and smiling.
She laughed and hit his shoulder lightly—. Fool. —She turned to the side, hiding her red cheeks.

He smiled and held her hand again before leading her somewhere.

Time skip:

They were in the garden of Riwoo's house. Apparently, Jaehyun brought the girl to the place without saying anything to his friend.

They are now laying on the grass.

—Yewon-ah—. Jaehyun suddenly called the girl, standing up.

The seriousness in his voice made Yewon look at him, sitting on the grass. Jaehyun suddenly kneeled down like the knights in the past and held one of the girl's hands, his brown eyes stared at hers with care.

—I think this is a bit rushed and that a lot of things have happened since we met and we have become closer each day. We are soulmates and we're stuck together until our last breath, even though I'm sure we'll still be together in hell or heaven. — He said, talking so fast that he seemed a rapper instead of a singer.

Yewon let out a giggle. Her soulmate was funny when he wanted to.

—Let me tell you straight —. He said —. Do you want to...
—Wait —. The girl stopped him —. You are a singer. I thought you would confess with a song or something, but this is so... Simple.
—If you let me finish my speech, you'll understand —. He said. He then cleared his throat and continued. —Where was I? Ah, yes. So...as i just said, let me tell you straight, I like you so much and you caught my eye on the first day I saw you. So... Do you want to be my girlfriend?

Yewon was going to tease him but he added.

—And I may or may not, have just spoiled you something for my next comeback.
—When is it?
—Won't tell you~

Yewon huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. She wasn't mad at all, she just liked to see his expressions.

—What's your answer? Yes or no?
—Um...— The girl looked at the sky, pretending to think —. Yes!

The boy smiled and pulled the girl towards him, wrapping his arms around her and putting his head on hers. 

—Thank you.. you are my everything, Kim Yewon.
—Stop saying my full name, will you?—. The girl said.
He stepped a bit back to look at her, his arms still around her shoulders—. Why? I like it. Kim Yewon,  Kim Yewon, Kim Yewon, Kim Yewon, Kim Ye...
—STOP.

He laughed and pecked the girl's lips once again.

They were now dating, meaning that they were in the last phase of Fate.
