"Jonathan? Jesus, what happened?"

Magnolia's head finally lifts from the desk at the voice of Joyce Byers. Thankfully, she was the only parent called in, as the girls were just witnesses to the whole ordeal. If her father had found out she had been sent to the police station, Magnolia would probably have been sent to boarding school.

"I'm fine," the boy muttered.

"Ma'am," Callahan, the idiot officer Jonathan had accidentally hit, scolded.

"Why is he wearing handcuffs?"

"Well, your boy assaulted a police officer. That's why."

Magnolia rolled her eyes at his immaturity. This was the authority in this town?

"Take them off," Joyce ordered.

"I'm afraid I cannot do that."

"Take them off!"

"You heard her. Take 'em off," Chief Hopper cut in.

"Chief, I get everyone's emotional here, but there's something you need to see," Officer Powell interrupted.

The teens watched as the policemen entered the station with a cardboard box... filled to the brim with weapons. Magnolia sighed, "Well, shit," she muttered.

"What is this?" Joyce questioned as she rummaged through the box's contents.

"Why don't you ask your son? We found it in his car," the chief stated monotonously, holding eye contact with Jonathan.

"Why are you going through my car?" the boy asked, leaning forward slightly.

"Is that really the question you should be asking right now?" Hopper fires back, reciprocating the boy's movements. "I wanna see you in my office."

"You won't believe me."

The chief's eyes seemed to hold some sort of disbelief that Jonathan would even question him, or maybe it was sincerity. What could the chief know about any of this anyway?

Magnolia's knee bounced anxiously as she watched Joyce pass the photo to Hopper. The two sitting on the bench beside her also expressed a similar fear.
