Magnolia tried to calm her breathing as she followed Nancy and Jonathan back out into the living room. Her eyes had searched every inch of the walls she passed, making sure that the Demogorgon hadn't found some way to hide. Once they finally stood back in the living room, she lowered her axe.
"This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy! This is crazy! This is crazy!" Steve repeated from beside her, only growing louder as the reality of the situation began to set in for him. All she could do was glare at him, because as annoying as he was, she was thinking the same thing.
Steve ran for the phone in a panic, frantically dialing what Magnolia assumed was the police. Just as he raised the phone to his ear, Nancy marched over and snatched it from his hand, throwing it onto the floor with enough force to break it.
"What are you doing!? Are you insane!?" he yelled at her, his voice shaking.
"It's going to come back!" she shouted, with just as much volume. "So, you need to leave. Right now."
Without a second thought, Steve obliged and scrambled out the door.
"Finally," Magnolia muttered.
The silence hadn't lasted very long, for not even a second later, the lights began to flicker again. Each of them raised their weapons, spinning as they had done before, trying to guess where it might appear this time.
"Where is it?"
"Come on. Come on, you son of bitch."
"Where the fuck is it?"
Then, the lights went out. Magnolia held her breath as a familiar growl sounded behind them. The girl froze in place.
Magnolia watched as Nancy turned around, her eyes wide, but they weren't looking at her. "Jonathan!" she yelled.
Magnolia's head snapped to her left where she watched the Demogorgon pounce on Jonathan. Magnolia raised her axe, without hesitation, grunting as she felt it make contact with the monster's slimy skin. As the axe's blade left its skin, Nancy had begun to shoot at it. The monster turned to face them now, raising to its full height. This thing was mad.
Both girls took a step back as it took a step forward. After overcoming her initial fear, Nancy shot at it again and again. Magnolia held her axe up, ready to swing when the time came.
The time came sooner than she thought as Nancy had run out of bullets, and pulled the trigger, hopelessly.
Their backs had collided with the wall behind them.
The monster took a step forward.
"Nancy, when I hit it, run past it, okay?" Magnolia muttered, as calmly as possible, to the girl beside her. Nancy nodded.
