"You're positive that was Dart?" Lucas questioned Dustin.
The group was surrounded by dark forest as they tried to find where the Demogorgons might have run off to. Magnolia wanted nothing more than to lay in her bed and fall asleep, but apparently, they had to be the good guys and save Hawkins.
"Yes," Dustin sighed, "He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt."
"W– He was tiny two days ago," Max cut in.
"Well, he's molted three times already."
"Malted?" Steve asked, stupidly.
Magnolia rolled her eyes.
"Molted," she and Dustin corrected at the same time.
Steve gave each of them a look, eyes furrowed into a glare.
"Shed his skin to make more room for growth," her nerd cousin explained, "like hornworms."
"Well, when is he going to molt again?" Max asked.
"It's gotta be soon," Dustin stated. "When he does, he'll be fully grown, or close to it. And so will his friends."
"That's great," Magnolia commented, sarcastically.
"Yeah, and he's going to eat a lot more than just cats," Steve joked.
"Too soon," the girl to his right glared.
"Wait," Lucas grabbed Dustin's shoulder and stopped, "a cat? Dart ate a cat?"
"No, what? No–"
"What are you talking about? He ate Mews," Steve continued.
"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max questioned.
"The cutest cat ever," Magnolia muttered.
"It's Dustin's cat," Steve nodded.
"Steve!" the boy yelled.
"I knew it," Lucas exclaimed. "You kept him!"
"No! No. No... I- no, I–" At a loss for words, Dustin sighed. "He missed me. He wanted to come home."
"Bullshit!"
"I didn't know he was a Demogorgon, okay?"
"Oh, so now you admit it?"
Tired of the boys' childish bickering, Max interrupted. "Guys, who cares? We have to go."
"Yeah," Magnolia agreed, "You guys can pick up this little fight later when we're not stranded in the middle of the forest!"
"I care!" Lucas shouted, "You put the party in jeopardy. You broke the rule of law."
