"What do you think about Brady Willis," Talia asked, out of the blue, as the two took their seats in art class.
Barb's seat was still empty, confusing Magnolia. Barb was pretty punctual, she wouldn't have been late to class.
"Brady 'Bad Catch Brad' Willis?" she asked, with a teasing tone.
Talia rolled her eyes, "Yes, that Brady."
"Well, I have no particular problem with him," she shrugged. "I thought you didn't like jocks, Tal."
"I don't like him," she clarified, though it was unconvincing. "We just did this project together the other day, and, I don't know. He just wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be."
Magnolia smirked, "You like him."
"God, I wish Barb was here," Talia said as she sent Magnolia a glare that clearly displayed her annoyance.
"Why? So you could tell her how much you like him," she said, her smirk only growing wider.
"I hate you, Maggie," she said, as the smallest smile broke onto her face.

Magnolia and Talia watched in disgust at the scene before them. Tommy H. and Carol seemed to be putting on some type of show... it was grotesque to say the least.
"Y'know, maybe we'll just ask her later," Magnolia muttered, eyebrows pinched together.
Talia, on the other hand, walked over to the table of four as if she hadn't heard a word coming from her best friend's mouth.
It took Magnolia some effort to suppress her laugh at the speed of which all three junior's expressions turned to annoyance as the pair approached them.
Talia paid no mind to them, focused on her mission to figure out where Barb was. "Hey, Nancy, did Barb come to school today?"
Nancy's eye flicked between the two girls, "Uh, no, I don't think so. You guys haven't seen her?"
"Why would we be asking you if we had," Magnolia bit back.
"Hey, watch your mouth," Steve said, protectively.
He was trying to intimidate her, she knew he was, but one thing about Magnolia Henderson was that she really didn't give a fuck.
"How about you mind your damn business, Harrington."
"Do you have any idea why she skipped?" Talia interrupted the two, putting the focus back on Barb.
Nancy shook her head. There was something about the look in her eyes, something that suggested she knew more than she was letting on. That, or Magnolia really did just assume the worst in people.

"Oh, shit," the two girls muttered in unison as they watched Jonathan Byers' camera hit the ground.
The girls leaned against Talia's car, parked just close enough to be in earshot of the standoff happening a couple feet away.
"I just don't get it," Magnolia whispered.
"You can't trust anyone anymore, Maggie," Talia shrugged, as she climbed into the driver's seat.
Magnolia followed in suit on the passenger's side. "Sure, but, Jonathan isn't some creep."
"As far as you knew."
"Steve still shouldn't have broken his camera. I mean it must've taken forever for him to have enough money to buy one," Magnolia turned in her seat to watch as he kneeled in front of the broken pieces scattered on the ground. "Should we help him?"
"The alleged pervert?" Talia asked with a raised brow.
Magnolia sighed, and turned to face forward again, mind conflicted, as Talia pulled out of the parking lot.

That night, Magnolia had begged Claudia to borrow the car for just ten minutes. She had decided to go check up on Barb herself. Magnolia had found that they lived less than two minutes away from each other a couple weeks ago. Talia was grounded, and the younger girl desperately needed someone to talk to that wasn't Nancy.
When she pulled up to the front of the house, she quickly took note of the blue car that was missing from the driveway. Just as she was about to make her way towards the front door, red and blue lights flew past in the distance. What the hell happened now?
Magnolia sat in the car conflicted. As curious as she was, it probably wasn't smart to follow the police onto a crime scene. She looked back at the Holland house. Maybe, Barb had just gone out, and the last thing Magnolia wanted to do was bother the poor girl's parents.
So, she drove back home, where only fifteen minutes later, Dustin would arrive, with tear-stained cheeks, announcing the death of Will Byers.
