The leather seatbelt cut into Magnolia's chest as Jonathan slammed the brakes.
Walking to the back of the car, they each grabbed everything they'd need to kill the Demogorgon.
Dropping the supplies on the floor, Nancy and Jonathan focused on putting the lightbulbs back on in the living room, while Magnolia worked in the kitchen.
The girls watched as Jonathan nailed a bear trap to the hallway floor. Nancy held it down with her foot as Jonathan carefully pulled it open.
Magnolia grabbed her axe from her backpack and practiced swinging it. If she went in for a hit at the monster, she couldn't afford to miss it.
Nancy placed bullets in her gun, one by one.
Banging came from the kitchen where Jonathan hammered nails into a bat.
Each with a tank in hand, Magnolia and Nancy doused the hallway's carpet with gasoline.
Jonathan grabbed a lighter.
Magnolia strategically placed the yo-yo that was connected to the bear trap on a chair in Will's room.
Jonathan walked into the living room with three knives in hand. There, he joined Nancy, who stood stoically, and Magnolia, who chewed on her lip. He handed each of the girls a knife.
"Remember–" Jonathan began.
"Straight into Will's room. And–" Nancy continued.
"Don't step on the trap," Magnolia piped in.
"Wait for the yo-yo to move," the Wheeler girl nodded.
Jonathan took a deep breath, "Then.." he flicked the lighter open as their gazes fell upon the small flame. "All right. You ready?" he looked towards the both of them.
They both nodded, though Magnolia was more hesitant. "I swear to God, Nancy, your theory better be fucking right," she muttered.
The three held out their palms, holding the knife against them.
"On three," Jonathan reminded. "One...two... you guys don't have to do this."
"Jonathan, stop talking," Nancy ordered.
"I'm just saying you don't have to–"
Before he could finish his sentence Nancy called out, "Three!"
The sharp blade cutting through her sensitive skin burned. Magnolia winced and suppressed the cry that threatened to escape her throat. In that moment of agony, she vowed never to chase after monsters again.

Magnolia glared at the lovesick teens across from her as she watched them talk in hushed whispers and bandage one another up. She looked back down at he own bandage. She had done a half-assed job at wrapping her wounded hand and the edge of it had begun to unravel. Where the hell was her knight in shining armor?
Before she could wallow in self-pity any longer, a series of harsh knocks sounded from outside the front door. Magnolia's bandaged hand immediately found its way around the handle of her axe and she stood and raised it cautiously. "Do they knock, now–?"
"Jonathan! Are you there, man? It's Steve! Listen I just want to talk!"
"Oh, you've got to be kidding," Magnolia scoffed. She marched to the door, intending to open it before Nancy got in her way.
"What are you doing?" she questioned, grabbing Magnolia's arm.
"I'm going to get rid of him."
"He won't listen to you," she shook her head.
"Yeah, well, if he sees you here, he'll freak out even more, and Jonathan can't lie," Magnolia explained like it was obvious.
Nancy sighed, and reluctantly stepped back, walking back over towards Jonathan.
Magnolia braced herself for the painful conversation she was about to endure.
