Chapter 26

At the end of the day it's important to follow your bliss and make time to do the things that bring pleasure to your soul. Time isn't measured in the minutes ticking away, but with the love you share, the laughter you experience, and the moments you create. It's often we find ourselves at war. Whether it be with one another or with ourselves, we are always fighting a battle.

We find the negativity in everything rather than taking the beauty, finding the positivity, and coexisting with ourselves and each other. It's better to spend your life in pure bliss than in an unavailing war. My words may seem hypocritical considering all that I stand for. However, I've seen the way people lived before and I've seen the way they live now, and let me say neither seems pleasurable. We are doing this in hope for one final change. The rebellion has always been the last resort. We have fought the government off in every way imaginable, but they continue to push us until fighting back is the only option left.

I, along with many other Grungers, long for a society in which people can experience life without taking it for granted. We should take all of the good along with the bad to create something new and beautiful. All we want is to create a life with meaning. And even though the current Grunger's may not survive to see the outcome, we can only hope the upcoming generations will use their freedom in the most effective way they can.

We aren't just fighting to fight. We are fighting to break free of the disaster taking place before us and to prevent it from spreading. After this we hope everyone finds and does the things that bring them happiness. Because real bliss doesn't come in a pill, it's something that has to be found, cherished, and held onto. I've already found my tiny fraction of bliss, now it's everyone else's turn. We are fighting so everyone can gain their life back. Even if it means losing ours.

My eyes peeled opened as the fresh sun light cascaded through the window, beaming onto two blurry, yet very unfamiliar faces. At the moment it was like I needed strong prescription glasses but soon everything came into focus. I gazed out watching the scenery fly by as we sped through the forest knocking down anything in our way. The seat seemed to shift and I turned my attention away from the window and to the man who sat relatively close to me.

"Hi, I don't believe we've met." The guy grinned showing his white teeth. His grey eyes sparkled as he held out his hand. I raised an eyebrow questioning his motives before cautiously placing my hand into his. "I'm Malakai." His face shape was oddly familiar but I had never in my life met this stranger.

"Blaize," Was all I said to introduce myself. Suddenly we came to a halt causing my body to jerk forward. My face planted against the seat my cheeks tuning red from the implant.

"Sorry! I'm sorry that was my fault," another voice chimed in.

"Jeezus A.J, remind us to never let you drive again," Malakai pestered.

"Hey, even I objected to driving the get-away vehicle," The voice retorted back.

"Yeah like we would let you go in on the rescue mission. Sorry, you're just too young. I could never live with myself if my baby sister got herself killed." His voice was sincere yet playful and she waved him off.

    "Yeah, yeah I know."

"This is Ajax by the way. She's the youngest of us three. We all call her A.J," Malakai introduced us. She turned around giving a gentle smile. Her hair was a fiery unnatural red, her eyes resemble that of Malakai, and her voice was sugary yet youthful. There was something else peculiar about this girl. A burn mark that took up a little less than half of the left side of her face could be seen. However, this didn't eliminate an ounce of this girls beauty, drop dead gorgeous would have been an understatement. The presence of her made me feel a bit insecure, she couldn't have been any older than sixteen.
