Chapter 33

The familiar chime went off allowing the reflective elevator doors to slide open. I closed my eyes as my body was thrown onto the farthest elevator wall. Malakai's sinister laugh propelled down the hall. I skidded off after him taking longer strides than normal confident I'd catch up to Malakai.

I turned the last corner finally catching up to him. The door came into view and we both jolted even faster rocketing past other people to busy take notice of us. The cold door handle barely grazed my hand. I wasn't fast enough. Malakai slammed his weight into me knocking me heavily onto the floor.

The sound of me smashing into the door and then crashing onto the floor was a loud enough disturbance for people to direct their stares at us. Malakai and I were acting like foolish children and neither one of us cared. It felt so damn good to feel life surging through my body. I was no longer a lost soul only alive because of one person and the beating of my heart and veins indicated such.

It never occurred to me I would ever make new memories and meet new people once I crossed over. I knew it would be better than home, but I assumed it would be mind-numbing labor day in and day out. And maybe after I settle in that's exactly how it'll become. For now though Amity has given me so much freedom it's nearly over whelming.

"You're such a cheater! Is Chivalry dead? Maybe you've forgotten but you're suppose to open doors for ladies not push them down and then laugh at their pain!" My crash landing didn't hurt in the least bit.

"Ouch that hurts Blaize," His face winces like I offended him in the worst way possible. "So many insults I could go with, like how you don't resemble a lady and anyone would've made the mistake of not opening the door, or that if you can't handle a small push then there's no way you'll survive as a Voyant, or-"

"Okay, I get it you have better comebacks than me. That doesn't change the fact that you are still slower," I took Malakai's hand as he helped stand me up.

"Sweetheart did I not touch the door first?"

"Only because you cheated! And don't call me that you sound like Atrix," I gave him a playful shove.

"Yeah whatever, princess," Malakai knew that was Atrix's sarcastic name for me. He also knows how much it gets under my skin when it's thrown at me. Malakai smirked opening the door. He held it open allowing me to step into the room acting as if he was the gentleman I claimed he wasn't.

"Where have you been? And what was all that commotion out there?" Atrix scorned. The table was long, narrow, and round, stretching from both ends of the room. Atrix and Felix sat directly across from each other with papers scattered left and right. Most of it appeared a mess but there were a few piles that appeared organized. Along the table were chairs resembling the one found in Atrix's office.

"Oh Blaize and I were racing down the hall and she thinks I pushed her but I-" His sentence drifted off. Atrix wasn't amused.

"When I tell you that I need something I expect it done in a reasonable amount of time. Because you are a Voyant, my older brother, and my twin, you do have more of an advantage but you do have responsibilities-" His voice was stone cold and Atrix's eyes focused in the colors staining our clothing.

"What's on your clothes," he was up and advancing towards Malakai.

"That would be paint Sir Atrix," Malakai teased.

"Right and just where did the paint staining your clothes come from?"

"Your office," I blurted out.

"You took my paints without asking? And instead of creating something meaningful you painted each other? That's such a waste! I can't believe you Malakai!" At first it sounded like a typical fight between brothers. One touched the other's belongings without permission. Atrix only grew angrier.
