Chapter 1

When you think about it, time doesn't exist clocks exist. Time does not exist in the natural world. The seasons may change, the day may change from sunrise to sunset but none of this actually represents the concept we have created, time. Clocks exist, it represents the passing of time but what a clock shows us is not really there. Although it has its uses, we have become the slave of this shared construct. Is time irrelevant? Or is time and timing everything? After all, despite that time doesn't exist, it is still limited before our hands are intertwined with deaths.

The room was fairly dark as there were no windows for the light to creep through. Two lamps were what kept the room lit and he and I laid on the sofa closely together. No sounds filled the room except the occasional breathes we took and the sounds of one another's heart beat which had become in sync. We rested below the ground, an odd but calm earth smell filled the air but was soon covered with Felix's musky cologne. My hand rested on his chest and beneath so, his heart pulsed. Felix soon interlocked my hand with his and I could feel myself become slightly dizzy from the sensation of his warm touch.

"Felix?" I looked up into his piercing blue eyes that always had the aspect of melting my aching heart.

"Yeah Blaize?" He tilted his head to where I could deepen my gaze into his eyes. The way he said my name, with such lust, made it difficult for me to breathe. Whether or not he had actually meant it had always been a mystery.

"Have you notice the change within people, within society?" I asked with some concern in my voice.

"Blaize," he gave a small sigh then continued, "It's Bliss. I believe I have a possible theory to this chaos," he paused for a moment and I pulled myself closer to him on the sofa. My leg wrapped around his waist and I buried my face into his shoulder. I listened closely to his words, his breathe, his heart.

"The government created Bliss so everyone has false happiness. Notice we still have people living in poverty but the accusations have stopped. They've done this so no one sees the ghastly, sickening things they've done and things to come. The government is literally shoving happiness and exhilaration down our throats," Felix said with slight vexation in his voice.

"It eliminates political unrest?" I half asked and half stated.

"Exactly," Felix replied.

We laid there in silent stillness for what seemed like hours but was only moments. I shifted my weight so our eyes aligned perfectly.

"I love you Felix," I said with a shaken voice.

Felix closed his eyes and clenched his jaw as if I had just pierced him in the heart with my words. "I know," he sighed releasing the tension and turning his face back to me. Slowly he leaned in and planted a soft but mesmerizing kiss on my lips. After several minutes I pulled away and settled back into his arms. We laid there once again in silence holding onto each other. He slipped his muscular hand around my waist tracing his fingers along my tattoo in a comforting way. As he did this I admired the artwork that rested upon his angelic chest. My eyes began to feel heavy and within minutes I fell into a deep content sleep.
