Aarohi sat at her desk in the hospital, her eyes scanning the patient file in front of her. She had been working for hours, trying to get everything sorted before heading home, but her thoughts occasionally drifted to her little girl, Ruhi. The soft sounds of the hospital around her were a distant hum, her mind focused on the task at hand.
Suddenly, Aarohi felt a presence near her, and before she could react, two tiny hands closed gently over her eyes. She smiled instantly, knowing exactly who it was. "Ruhi," she said with a playful tone, "I know it's you."
Ruhi, her daughter, let out a giggle, standing on her tiptoes as she leaned in closer. "How do you know, Mathasree?" she asked, her tiny voice filled with wonder.
Aarohi couldn't help but smile wider at the word. Ruhi had been fascinated by stories of queens and princesses lately, and she had started calling Aarohi "Mathasree" like the royal mothers in those tales. Aarohi gently removed Ruhi's hands from her eyes and turned to face her daughter. "Because a mother always knows her little girl. And besides," she added, lifting Ruhi into her lap, "I could never forget the feel of your tiny hands."
Ruhi beamed, her face lighting up with happiness as she snuggled into her mother’s lap. "I missed you, Mathasree! Are you almost done? Can we go home?"
Aarohi glanced at the papers scattered across her desk, then back at her daughter’s eager face. "Almost, sweetheart," she replied gently. "Just a few more minutes."
Ruhi let out an exaggerated sigh, resting her head dramatically against Aarohi’s chest. "But you always say that!" she protested, her little hands waving in the air.
Aarohi chuckled softly, running her fingers through Ruhi's soft hair. "Okay, I might say it often, but this time I mean it," she assured her. "Besides, didn’t you just come from school? What did you do today?"
Ruhi's eyes lit up with excitement as she remembered. "Oh! Mathasree, today we learned about… um… we learned about… histo-lory!"
Aarohi raised an eyebrow, amused. "Histo-lory?" she repeated, gently correcting her. "You mean 'history,' right?"
Ruhi nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, yes, that's what I said! Histery! And we learned about the king who had a really big… um… what was it? Oh! A really big crowm!"
Aarohi laughed softly, correcting her again. "Crown, darling. A king wears a crown."
Ruhi pouted, crossing her arms. "That’s what I said, Mathasree! A crowm!" She gave a little huff, clearly frustrated by her own mistake.
Aarohi kissed the top of her daughter’s head. "It’s okay, Ruhi. You’ll get it right. That’s what learning is all about."
Ruhi, determined to move past her little mistake, continued her story with great enthusiasm. "And the king was really strong, and he had a sword that could cut through… um… what did my teacher say? Oh! A sword that could cut through a dragon!"
Aarohi smiled softly, her eyes sparkling with affection. "That must have been quite a strong king," she said, encouraging Ruhi to continue.
"Yeah!" Ruhi said, her eyes widening with excitement. "And then the king had a daughter, just like me! And the princess wore a really shiny… um… dress! And everyone called her… what’s that word, Mathasree? The one for someone really important?"
Aarohi thought for a moment. "Do you mean 'royal'?" she asked.
"Yes! Royal!" Ruhi nodded vigorously, thrilled that she got it right this time. "The princess was very royal, and everyone loved her. Just like everyone loves me!"
Aarohi laughed warmly, hugging Ruhi a little tighter. "Of course, they do, my princess," she said, her voice full of warmth. "You’re my little royal girl."
