Part 1 Aarohi's escape
Aarohi stood in the center of the Birla mansion’s grand living room, her heart pounding painfully in her chest. The familiar faces surrounding her, once filled with warmth and affection, now bore expressions of anger, distrust, and disappointment. The tension was so thick it was suffocating, and the echoes of accusations hung in the air, piercing through her like a thousand knives.
"Aarohi, how could you?" Manjari’s voice was laced with pain as she looked at her with disbelief. "We welcomed you into our family, treated you as our own, and this is how you repay us?"
Aarohi’s lips trembled as she tried to speak, but her voice failed her. The weight of the accusations, the icy glares from the Goenkas and Birlas, and the cold silence of those she had considered family pressed down on her. She could see the disappointment in their eyes, the judgment already passed, leaving no room for her to defend herself.
"I didn’t do anything wrong," she finally managed to whisper, her voice barely audible. "You have to believe me… I would never hurt this family. Please…"
But her plea fell on deaf ears. Suhasini, her grandmother, shook her head in disapproval, her eyes hardening with every word Aarohi uttered. "Aarohi, enough. You’ve caused enough damage. There’s nothing more to say."
Kairav, her own brother, stood with his arms crossed, his face a mixture of anger and hurt. He couldn’t even bring himself to look at her, and that stung more than anything else. Akshu, who had once been so close, now seemed like a stranger, her expression unreadable.
Even Abhimanyu, who had been a friend and confidant, remained silent, his face a mask of indifference. He didn’t come to her defense, didn’t offer a single word of comfort or support. It was as if the bond they once shared had shattered into a million pieces, irreparable and lost forever.
Aarohi’s vision blurred as tears welled up in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She wouldn’t break down in front of them, not now. But inside, her heart was breaking. The people she had loved and trusted, the family she had tried so hard to be a part of, had turned their backs on her.
"I can’t stay here," Aarohi thought, her mind racing as she realized the full extent of her isolation. They had already judged her, already decided her fate without giving her a chance to explain. There was nothing left for her here, not in Udaipur, not with the Goenkas or Birlas. She had to leave.
With trembling hands, she turned and walked out of the living room, ignoring the heavy silence that followed her. Each step felt like a mile, her legs heavy with the weight of the finality of her decision. She reached her room and began packing, her movements mechanical as she tried to keep herself from falling apart.
As she stuffed her clothes into a suitcase, her phone buzzed on the bedside table. She ignored it at first, but then it buzzed again. Reluctantly, she picked it up, and her heart skipped a beat when she saw Neil’s name on the screen.
"Meet me at the back gate," the message read, simple yet filled with the promise of understanding.
For a moment, Aarohi hesitated. Should she go? Would Neil, too, look at her with the same distrust? But deep down, she knew Neil was different. He had always been kind, always seen through the layers of her personality to the vulnerable person beneath.
She grabbed her suitcase, taking one last look around the room that had once felt like a sanctuary, but now seemed more like a prison. Her heart ached with the knowledge that she was leaving behind not just a home, but a piece of herself, a life she had tried so hard to build. But she had no choice. She had to go, to escape the pain and betrayal that now defined her existence in Udaipur.
