Julie's POV

I almost can't believe I'm doing this.

I stood outside of Luke's parents house, a place I never expected to see myself going to again, but still, this isn't just for me. It's for Luke.

Who is standing right next to me.

He looked nervous as well.
"Are you ready?" I asked him.

"I think so." He paused, "Are you?"

"Maybe." I admitted and rang the bell.

Seeing them again scared me. They said they never wanted to see me again. They claimed Luke's death was my fault. That it was my fault because I let him live at my house.

The door opened, I took a deep breath.

It was Mitch, Luke's father.

"Julie?" He looked extremely surprised, "Why are you here?"

"Hi, I know it's been a while but I came across this song he wrote and figured you might be interested." I took out the piece of paper and handed it to him.

He looked at me, then down at the paper, then up at me again.

"What is this really?" He questioned.

"It's a song, I promise-"

I was cut off by a voice coming from the other room, "Honey, who's at the door?"

Emily used to be like a second mother to me. She loved my friendship with Luke and definitely secretly wanted a daughter. When Luke died, all that love turned into resentment.

She appeared in the door frame a moment later. Her eyes widened.

"Julie? What are you doing here?" She sounded upset.

"I'm sorry, I just, well, I found something of Luke's and I think he would have wanted you guys to have it." I explained.

"Of course all his stuff is with you." She scoffed.

"Please, just look at it. I think he would have really wanted this."

They looked down at the paper, I looked to Luke, but I couldn't see him. He was definitely still there, it's just this stupid weird ghost magic or whatever.

I don't know how Emily and Mitch were feeling as they read the lyrics.

They both looked up, Emily had tears in her eyes.

"My son wrote that for me?" She asked me. I nodded.

A moment later, she pulled me into a tight hug, which shocked me. I accepted the hug and hugged her back. She pulled apart and whispered to me, "I'm so sorry."

Now I felt tears coming, "You don't have to apologize to me."

She nodded, "I shouldn't have blamed you, it wasn't your fault. I'm sorry."

Mitch placed a hand on my shoulder, "I'm sorry too Julie, there was so much going on, we never realized how hard it must have been for you."

"Yeah, it was really hard. It's still really hard, but thank you for apologizing."

"I wish I could say sorry to my son too." Emily frowned.

"I know it feels like it doesn't matter now, but he forgives you, I know he does, he wouldn't have written this song if not."

She nodded, "Thank you Julie."

I got back to the studio and felt good.

The conversation went really well.

"Luke? Are you here?" I called out.

The notebook opened and the pen began to write.

Luke's messy handwriting appeared a moment later.

YES, THANK YOU JULIE, THAT WAS AMAZING. I'M GLAD THEY APOLOGIZED TO YOU, AND I'M GLAD THEY FINALLY GOT TO READ IT.

"I'm glad too, it must feel good." I smiled.

All of a sudden I heard a scream. Luke's scream as if he was in pain. And right before my eyes he appeared and a purple light flashed near him and he fell back in pain.

"Luke!" I shouted and ran over to him even though there was nothing I could do.

He looked up at me, then sat up.

"What was that? Are you okay?"

"I'm sorry Jules, I have something to tell you." He began, "Me and the guys we did something that we shouldn't have. The night that we missed the dance, we met this ghost, and he put this curse on us. And if we don't do what he says, then those jolts will destroy us."

As confused as I was, I responded, "Then you gotta do what he says. What does he want?" They couldn't die again, they just couldn't.

"He wants us to be in his house band for eternity."

"That sounds bad, that's right?" I began to panic, "I mean it's playing music, but forever sounds ominous."

He nodded, "It's bad Jules."

"Are you going to?"

He shook his head, "There's another way, we figured out that we have unfinished business. That's why we came back as ghosts."

"What is it?"

"We think we have to play the show we never got to play. The Orpheum."

"That makes sense." At least I think it did. All of this was hard to process.

"If we can play the Orpheum soon, then we can avoid all that and actually cross over."

"Cross over? As in, like what? Like go to heaven?"

"That's what we're banking on." He sounded sad

"So it's either you cross over, be in his band for eternity, or be destroyed by those jolts?"

"Yeah." He nodded.

I shook my head. "That's just great, what are we going to do?"
