Malias POV:
The cold air conditioning blasted my face as we walked into the Target.
It was down the street from Kylie's house, so it didn't take too long to get here.
Again, something feels off, but that might just be me?
Who knows.
I turned to Kylie, who was grabbing a shopping cart.
"Okay Ky, do you know what you want to get first?" I asked.
She smiled.
"Let's check my list."
List?
My jaw dropped as Kylie pulled out a folded piece of paper from her pocket. She unfolded it and sure enough, there were items and aisle numbers written down on it.
"Kylie, you organized girl," I joked, laughing.
She put her bag in the cart and looked at me.
"I'm actually a very messy person, just trying to be more wifey," She said, playfully winking.
Little did she know...
I just smiled and put my hand right next to hers on the cart. As much as I'd love to hold it, we're in public.
We walked down from the entrance all the way to the boxed and canned food aisle.
"Okay, Ky. What's your list say we need?"
Why did I say 'we'? It's her house. Idiot.
She smiled and looked at the paper in her hands.
"Some mac and cheese for sure," She said, continuing to read. "And boxed cake mix for when I get that tingling feeling to bake."
I looked at her, she was being serious. When she looked back up at me, I died laughing.
"Wow, giggly much?" She joked. "Gotta stand on business, Maliki."
Maliki, I started dying yet again at that stupid nickname she just called me. Soon enough? my eyes were tearing up and my stomach hurt from laughing.
Kylie just stood there. She laughed a little bit, but clearly didn't think anything was as funny as I did.
"Maliki, boo, the sooner we get this done the sooner we can go have fun." She said, starting to push the cart further down the aisle.
"Anything with you is fun, Ky." I said in a tone that could be taken lightly.
But I meant it.
She just smiled and touched my finger before grabbing my hand.
Any touch from her made me flustered.
We held hands all the way down the aisle until someone walked past. As soon as she saw him, she dropped my hand and put hers on the handle of the cart.
It shouldn't have hurt me like it did, we literally agreed to keep us between...well between just us.
But it did. I've never been with someone who didn't show me off, someone who lets go of my hand when someone walks past.
We walked into the next aisle, I purposefully pretended to look at snacks rather than at her. I don't want to look humiliated.
It took about an hour, and we were finally done checking off every box on Kylie's list.
The cart was full, and we were both tired of walking.
"Ready to checkout?" I asked Kylie.
She looked at me and nodded, smiling.
