Malias POV:

Kylie and Ruby were both sleeping.

You could hear Kylie's light breathing and Ruby's gentle snores mixed with the ac throughout the entire room.

I just laid in Kylie's arms, my eyes wide open and my mind wide awake.

I thought about Shay.

I didn't think about the Shay Kylie and Ruby knew.

I thought about the Shay I knew. The girl that I told everything to.

I thought about my Shay. My friend, my companion, and at one point, my world.

I thought about all of our memories. Shooting Babysitters Club, her being the only person I saw due to the Covid pandemic.

I thought about the laughs we'd share together, the handshakes we learned and the stupid dances we'd perform to our parents in order to get a sleepover.

I know I lost Shay the moment I saw her in that police station, but it was honestly so surreal to me that she was really gone.

Now, there was zero chance at ever talking to her again. At ever seeing her face.

I laid there in silence, all of my thoughts circling my brain.

It killed me knowing that the last thing Shay ever did was protect me.

Even though she hated Kylie, she protected us. All of us.

She literally died for us.

I thought about Shay until my mind physically could not think anymore, and I fell asleep.

I woke up to Kylie's soothing voice.

"Malia baby, wake up."

I opened my eyes and was blessed enough to be able to see Kylie's perfect face.

She made all of my worries go away. Everythign I had been stressing about last night just disappeared for a moment.

"Is she awake?" I turned towards Rudy's voice, and earned a smile from her one she saw that my eyes were open.

"Finally, girl! We thought you went into hibernation." Ruby laughed.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes, laughing with the two.

"Let's go eat? I'm starving." Kylie said.

Ruby nodded, but I hesitated. Going out this soon after that news last night was crazy talk.

Kylie noticed my hesitation and spoke gently.

"I meant in the restaurant downstairs. The clerk says it's all inclusive, so there's no point in leaving the hotel."

Kylie assured me.

It was amazing that she could just sense whenever somehting was wrong and just make it all okay.

"Yeah, let's do it." I agreed, earning a smile from each of the girls.

They waited for me to brush my teeth before we took the elevator down to the restaurant floor.

It was breakfast buffet, there was quite literally everything you could possibly think of.

I loaded up my plate once I realized how hungry I was.

I got waffles, hash browns, yogurt and a bowl of fruit.

Kylie got the same amount of food as me, but she got toast and an omelet. She also had a small bowl of fruit, just like me.
