Kylie's POV:

My mouth opened as soon as I saw the TV.

It was a view of the sushi restaurant we had just left.

The banner at the bottom of the screen stated, 'Gun Violence at Local Sushi'

Both Ruby and Malia let out gasps. I turned and watched Malia's expression.

She was completely silent, each hand clasping over her mouth.

I stared at her for a second, but she gasped again causing me to turn back to the TV.

There was now a small box in the bottom corner that showed a picture of Shay.

She was smiling and glowing. She looked like a completely different person than the one we had just spoke to at the restaurant.

The news anchor began to talk.

"Young California actress, Shay Rudolph was found shot dead at the scene,"

As we paid attention to the screen, nobody made a sound.

There was nothing to say.

I watched as a tear fell from Malia's cheek, but my head turned as the anchor continued to speak.

"Sources say that another young actor, Matthew Sato was armed, and shot the young girl. Police investigators have since been on the hunt for Matt, more details coming soon. Michelle, back to you."

My jaw dropped once again. Matt killing someone was not on this years bingo card.

Heck, none of this stuff was expected.

My heart ached for Malia. No matter what Shay put her through, I know that deep down, she still had love for her.

Tears were soaking Malia's face as she watched the image of her childhood friend dim from the screen.

The camera shifted to a woman, who I assumed was Michelle. She spoke in a solemn tone.

"Thank you John. More information about the brutal shooting was just released. Shay Rudolph and Matthew Sato were closely aligned in the stalking of upcoming Descendants star, Kylie Cantrall."

A picture of Matt was shown on the screen. Next to it, a picture of me.

My heart sank. Why was my name being mentioned?

How did they even know about me getting stalked?

Malias hand went to mine. She wiped away her tears and focused on me.

"It's okay Ky, it's going to be okay." Her hands started brushing through my hair as she sniffled.

My eyes were glued to the screen. I didn't know what to do or what to say.

Now everyone is going to know.

Everyone is going to see me vulnerable. They're all going to start asking me things.

I could already see the comments.

Michelle proceeded to speak.

"We have been given information from a nearby witness, who personally saw Shay and Matthew in a heated argument. Witness says Matthew pulled out a handgun and shot Shay on the scene before fleeing in a red Mercedes Benz."

The TV turned off.

Malia and I both sat up and turned to Ruby, who had the remote in her hand.

"We don't need to be watching this any longer." Ruby said, clearly shaken. "We're here, and we're safe. That's all that matters."
